Plan & Sequence Of Events

Below is an events sequence as well as plan that shall be utilized to conduct a parent-teacher conference in regard to a single mom who doesn’t have time for her son who is struggling with reading and has behavior issues in my class.

Table of Contents

Preliminary

This initial stage shall be informed by introductions and the usual pleasantries to set ground for the discussion. This is a critical stage as far as setting stage for discussion is concerned.

Open the discussion

At this stage, I shall explicitly state the sessions’ purpose. For instance, I can state “the purpose of this session is to discuss behavioral problems of your son as has been noted during my class as well as his struggles with reading……”

Discuss the issues

This stage shall be informed by a detailed discussion of the issues at play. The issues at play here include;

  • Failure of the single mum to allocate some time to her son to track and evaluate his progress
  • The son’s reading problems
  • The son’s behavioral issues as evidenced in class

         Formulate a plan of action

According to Green et al. (2006), a plan of action comes up with proposals on how to solve the issue(s) at hand. In this case, we shall brainstorm on methods we believe can be applied to achieve the desired results as far as the issues indicated above are concerned. The settlement on the appropriate plan of action shall be informed by mutual agreement

Record the session closure

This session shall be informed by the documentation of the issues discussed during the session. Documentation is critical for future reference on the course of action agreed upon and for follow-up purposes.
