Reflection on the Atomic Bomb
The author of “Reflection on the Atomic Bomb,” is Gertrude Stein. The story is about the atomic bomb on ways that they are destructive and also how they are of less use compared to the machine. The story starts with the interest of the author on reading detective and mystery stories. Sourcing of the materials to read was not sufficient and whenever he found them, he couldn’t read them for they related to atomic bomb or the death rays. Although the author like mystery stories, his opinion about the atomic bomb was different simply because he never thought and at the same time he had no interest on reading materials about atomic bomb. He argues that if they are destructive, what was the reason to read them since they will end up destroying even the writer and the reader, (Gertrude, 1946).
The main argument of the author is that there is no need to read such things simply because they result to destruction at the end. The main idea is that some of the materials that he got could be taking something less destructive but the fact remained that they were destructive. Since it’s a destructive weapon even to the individuals who invents them, the reason of getting interest on them according to the author is a dream which couldn’t turn true. Those who asked the author about what he thinks about the atomic bomb may think that they have some interests about that field but they aren’t. The reasons behind it there are some instances inside those materials which bring scaring situations which might affect them but the author is not affected in any way. Common sense should be used to make sound decisions, (Gertrude, 1946).
