Section 1
Inova health system is a not for profit health organization that is located in Falls Church in Virginia. It consists of various hospitals and offers out patient services and assisted living. In addition, Inova health system is made up of long term care facilities and health care centers. The hospitals provide care to patients in Northern Virginia. A mission statement describes the purpose of an organization. The mission of Inova health system is to enhance the health of the community. The organization improves the health of the community by providing quality patient care and education. It also participates in research so as to be able to improve the health of the community (Inova health system, 2009).
The mission statement listed above is aligned with what the organization does. Inova health system is aimed at offering quality care to all patients in the community. The employees in the organization including physicians are supposed to act in a manner that enhances patient care. For instance, the organization discourages behaviors that might affect patient safety. The employees in Inova are not allowed to disrupt operations in the facility. The organization encourages employeesz to follow the standards of behavior that have been established. In addition, the organization discourages the employees from being involved in harassment. They should maintain a health working environment so as to ensure the patients get the right care. The organization ensures patients get quality care that is considerate. In addition, patients are offered health care services in a cost effective way (Inova health system, 2009).
The organization has accorded patients various rights that ensure patients get the care that is inline with their interests. This has in turn helped enhance health in the community. Moreover, the organization encourages employees to enhance patient privacy in the organization. Employees are required to keep patients information confidential. Inova health system is considered one of the best hospitals in United States because of its efforts in improving health care services in the community. Also, the organization carries out biomedical research so as to help improve patient care and improve the health of the patient. The organization can change its mission statement so as to make it aligned with its services. An example of a mission statement that the organization can adapt is; (Inova health system, 2009).
‘Inova health system is aimed at offering quality, timely and cost effective care to patients. The organization carries out research often so as to ensure it offers quality care to patients’.
The new mission statement will ensure the organizations purpose is inline with what it does. The organization has focused on offering quality, timely and cheap care to patients in Virginia and other parts of the country. For instance, the organization ensures patients who need emergency services get timely services. In addition, the organization ensures all patients get quality care and are allowed to make decisions concerning their care. The new mission statement will fit well in day to day activities of the organization unlike the current mission statement. The current mission statement is too general as it focuses on the community, but the organization concentrates mostly on patients. Thus, it should change its policy (Inova health system, 2009).
Section 2
The current mission of the organization is to be the best health care system internationally. Inova health system has been ranked one of the best health care facilities in United States for the last few years as stated above. Most people have commended the organization for offering excellent services. The organization has established hospitals in different parts of the country. It has also established numerous resident facilities so as to offer quality care to patient. Inova should change its vision statement so as to be able to achieve its goals. The current vision statement is not inline with the mission statement of the organization. Currently, the organization focuses on improve health of the community through patient care and carrying out research and education. Inova should adapt a new vision statement. The new vision statement should be;
‘Inova health system vision is to offer patients with quality care and be the most productive and innovative health care system in improving clinical services for the benefits of people in different parts of the world’. The new vision statement will be inline with its mission as it will be able to improve the health of the community by providing quality care and being productive and innovative (Inova health system, 2009).
The vision plan
In order to offer quality services to patients and improve the health of the community, the organization will ensure the health care professionals are aware of patient services. For example, the health system will help health care professionals offer quality and safe care to patients in the area and other parts. The employees in Inova health system will be educated on how to offer quality and safe services to patients for the next five years. This will help enhance the quality of care provided to patients. It will also ensure the health care professionals offer health care services effectively. Additionally, the organization will educate the community on health care services in the next five years. For instance, the Inova health system will train the community on how to improve health by maintaining good lifestyle. Lastly, the organization will enhance research and innovation for the next five years so as to improve patient care and community health (Inova health system, 2009).
There are three areas in the organization that need to be changed according to the plan. First, the organization should change the provision of health care services to patients. The organization should ensure the employees are able to offer quality services. Apart from changing provision of services, the organization should educate the community and the staff. It should endure the staff are provided with quality education and necessary training on patient care and health services. Lastly, it should change how research is carried out in the organization. The organization shoud adapt effective methods of carrying out research so as to offer quality services to patients (Inova health system, 2009).
Section 3
There are different types of stakeholders in Inova health systems. Like other organizations, Inova health systems have both internal stakeholders and external stakeholders. Some of the stakeholders in Inova health systems include neighborhoods and private medical community. Another stakeholder is mystic basketball team. The stakeholders have different effect on the organization. The stakeholders have different interests. For instance, the neighborhood or community has different interests from the private medical community. The neighborhood interests include protection of the environment and employment.
In addition, the community is interested in open communications and being involved in various activities in the organization like decision making. The community might affect the organization negatively if it does not act according to the interest of the community. For example, the community might not support the organizations objectives if it does not protect the environment and provide employment to members of the community. Also, it might not support the organizations activities if it does not employ open communication and involve the community members in decision making. On the other hand, the community might affect the organization positively if it acts well and hence ensure it achieves its objectives. The private medical community can also affect Inova health syatems in different ways.
The interests of private medical community are involvement in delivery of care and open communication. Inova health systems are supposed to work with the private medical community when providing health care services to the residents and other people. Failure to work with the private medical community might hinder the organization from attaining its goals. This is because the health system affects the interests of private medical community. However, the private medical community will support Inova health system in achieving its goals if it acts according to the interest of the community. Lastly, the Mystic basketball team will also have an impact on the organization if it does not consider the needs of the team when making decisions or running the organization. This will in turn lead to poor delivery of services and prevent the form from achieving its goals. Thus, the organization should consider the interests of the stakeholders when carrying out its activities so as to avoid such issues (Inova health system, 2009).
