African Traditional Metaphysics

The metaphysics of the western culture is based on the religion which holds the society into its grip. For instance the Eden sin which forced the first man out of the unspoiled Garden of Eden made him to come to the corrupt and therefore social life was left to be the only option remaining.

African metaphysics

The African metaphysics according to (Ozumba, 2004) is holistic and interrelated. The logic of the African metaphysics underpins the African standards and expectations.

There is significant difference between the African ethical theories and the western ones.

The Western ethics have the analytical logic they view things from the point of view that they should be analyzed so as to know the reason behind it.

The African ethics takes for granted the western conception that a person is a rational being, with moral; he is free, with linguistic and moral entity. African only belief that man is just simultaneously a physical being as well as a spirit.

The African ethics only consider how beings are holistic and interrelated to one another for example a group from West take God to be one who is not fully known unlike in the Western who belief there is God and acknowledge him as the only supernatural being.

Causality is a central issue among the Africans. The African think that nothing happens without cause. For instance unlike the western counterparts they don’t belief that death can come naturally but there must be a cause to it.

Immorality of the soul is not controversial issue in the African scheme. African’s belief that a soul of the man is immortal. Unlike in the western ethics they don’t agree with the Christian concept of eternal separation between the living and the dead.
