Compression Schemes

Data elimination is a form of data compression which involves reducing the size of files and folder by extracting some data from the files or folders in question. Elimination of data from files does not necessarily mean that the data is lost as some could be stored in lossless compartments which cut out unnecessary data dependent on frame size to avoid any form of compromise in image quality. Similarly, redundancy as a form of data compression methods entails pointing out the redundant data between frames and placing it in permanent or temporary folders (Reed 2006).


This data compression scheme could be used in video editing and production whereby images are eliminated from files to enable it fit in the desired locality. In this case, unnecessary images that are captured are cut off while unwanted information present within the frames is eliminated. However, caution should be employed emphatically to reduce chances of obtaining low quality images at the expense of creating space for more data. Similarly, non-motion pictures are also reduced in size by use of data compression techniques which ensures that the quality of image obtained after elimination is not compromised (Reed 2006).


The primary advantage obtained from using data compression in relation to data elimination is that the quality of images obtained after compression is upheld. Minimal occurrence poor quality videos which contain minimal details regarding the intent of the video are observed. The other benefit is that lossless data compression does not cause complete loss of data such that it is stored in temporal files which can be accessed when the need arises thus video quality is maintained (Reed 2006).
