The Service Operations Management Projects
We have three articles that we shall cover in this essay. The article “good people often let bad things happen. Why?” is written by Max. H Bazerman and Ann E. Tenbrunsel. The transparent supply chain is written by Steve New. The entire essay will be on critical aspects of the two articles. There is some learnt knowledge that will help in criticizing those articles.
The transparent supply chain
The transparent supply chain article talks about supply chain systems. Supply has developed in so many different ways since the initial idea of supply was developed. In most cases individuals fail to decide on various methods they are required to use when making supply chain decisions. The relevance of the article is to provide the knowledge of supply chain and at the same time providing important measures that individuals should take some considerations when supplying their commodities. The author has provided some of the developments that have managed supply chain to work effectively.
The articles have important message towards leaders but in a different way. In the transparent supply chain the aspect supply chain is discussed in detail. The author generally looks at some of the key issues which have allowed the supply chain development and at the same time the implications behind an effective supply chain system. The author has also pointed out some of the risks that are associated with activities present in the supply chain process. This provides the reader with some basic knowledge of some of the steps that one should take when ordering or doing the supply of a given product. Individuals are inspired on various supply chain concepts which they actually don’t know and consequently how they are required to implement quality supply chain system, (Steve, 2010).
The author has show the importance of activity development for improving supply chain. According to the author, there is need to have the improvement and transformation of the market. Why should this be so? Customers require ways in which they track their products regardless of the technology that has been implemented. According to the author, information provided should allow retailer provide sufficient and valid information on to the en users of products. I strongly believe that with the current technology that has been developed and on going, managers are likely to point out some of the risks that are present in any given supply chain activity. The main aim of technology is to predict on some of the risks that are present thus creating a strategy to deal with them accordingly, (Steve, 2010).
In respect to the authors’ decisions, I second that there is need to implement quality supply chain system. We are in the world of technology whereby supply of any give situation should be designed to suite the entire logistic. I do agree with the assertions made by the authors simply because there are at times when you realize that some mistakes are done by employees simply because that is what their leaders does. On the other side there is need to allocate some strategies to design something which allows for a quality management of supply chain system, (Steve, 2010).

Ethical breakdowns
On the “good people often let bad things happen. Why?” article, the author has presented the aspect of ethical breakdowns. In most causes some unethical behaviors do happen simply because the leader don’t know or even have engaged in it. The articles have important message towards leaders but in a different way. The aim of the article is to provide leaders with some guidelines on how they should control unethical behaviors that arise in the organization. Consider the ethical breakdowns article.
The main point here is to point some aspects that contribute to the unethical conditions in the work place. According to the author, most leaders and for that case mangers fail during their work development or delegation. Managers have some behaviors that they pass to their employees which create unethical ground knowingly and at times they do it without knowing. There are instances when managers are unable to point out some unethical behaviors that exist in their employees. Some of the reasons that led to failure of pointing out such behaviors include good performance and lack of skills. When there is quality performance, managers may be unable to point out some of the behaviors present in employees. The author has pointed out five barriers that prevent an organization to develop. The pointed barriers include the ill-conceived goals, overvaluing outcomes, motivated blindness, the slippery slope and lastly the indirect blindness. He has discussed those five barriers accordingly pointing out what activities may lead to their development and some of the key points which need to be taken care so as to prevent their occurrence. According to the article the main idea is on the leaders and how they should deploy some aspects which ensure that their organizations run in the right manner, (Max & Ann, 2011).
In conclusion, the author points out some that managerial knowledge is greatly required when implementing a good working environment. According to the author an organization that does not have managerial leadership will continue experiencing such problems which results to poor performance of the organization. I agree that companies should deploy strategies on dealing with issues related to the managerial problem. Things such as ethical programs, putting in place some of the ethical codes of conduct and in house watchdogs are some of the activities which may reduce the level of unethical behavior in the organization.
For ethical breakdowns aspect, the author has provided evidence whereby some individuals tend to follow what they see their seniors doing. Consider whereby employee’s does mistakes done by their leader but the leader doesn’t know that he or she is doing wrong. There should be some rules set aside which governs how and what should be done to prevent unethical behaviors in work place. I believe that the author of ethical breakdowns could have provided some measures that should govern what an individual should do regardless of the leader bearing in mind that he operates within the work environment. Following what the leader does even if it’s wrong should be challenged, (Max & Ann, 2011).
