Organizational Communication
Organizational Communication
Introduction
Communicating information is usually extremely essential. A communication tool is a media that is used to have communication. There have been different tools of communication from the old times till now. In the past, people used to communicate using fires, beating drums in a particular design, hitting the rock, using birds to carry the message, and people shouting to call the attention of others. In the past, information would travel fast as a horse would run.
Today, there are various tools of communication that have evolved over time. With the invention of internet, different devices for communication have been developed. Some of these devices include computers, I phones, blackberry and many more. Despite having many tools of communication than in the past, there was stronger and deeper relationship then than now (Tse, C & Yamauchi, J 2009).
The benefit of the traditional tools of communication is that they were realistic and based on the daily lives of people. The means of communication could be able to communicate beliefs, attitudes, feelings, and values in powerful ways.
Discussion
The different tools of communication that were used in the past did have stronger and deeper relationship that the modern used tools of communication. In the past, the signs that were being used required people to gather together and be able to know what message needed to be passed. People had to gather together and meet face to face. By using face to face communication, people would be involved in passing the message, and they would have to show their contribution according to what was required from the message.
This is not the same with the modern means of communication. In the modern means of communication, it is not necessary for a person to be present so that the message can be passed. Because of the different tools of communication in the modern times, people can receive the message while they are in different parts across the globe (Tse, C & Yamauchi, J 2009). This does not cause a strong relationship between the people who are passing the message.
With the traditional method of communication using the drums to call people to gather and receive the information, it was extremely effective as it ensure that people always gathered whenever there was an essential information that required to be delivered to others. Traditionally, it was hard for people not to attend any meeting that they were called to. This was an indication that, during the old times, people were more attached to one another than today. The present tools of communication have made it easy for people to receive the message and get all the information required without having to meet with a group of people. These different tools of communication have influenced the relationship between people as people have become very dependent.
The life that people are living in the modern times is dependent. People have to solve their problems all alone without help from others. With today’s means of communication, there have been many activities that people are involved in; thus, they cannot attend to the needs of other people. They just have to make a call or communicating with them through the internet via compute (Smith, K 2005)r.
This means of communication does not create any strong or deeper relationship between people. People do not spend enough time listening to the needs of others as it is also a costly method of communication. The past tools of communication did not cost any fee. People would meet at any time without having the time limit to listen to the message. There different meeting points where people were supposed to meet. This would take even more than half a day to focus on the way forward according to what kind of message was being delivered (Smith, K 2005).
If there was any person who needed help, the people in the society would make sure that they offered the needed support to ensure that the issue is solved completely. The help would either be in the form of money support and also physical support. The most significant means of support was through physical support. People in a village were considered as one, and a problem of one person was considered a whole village problem. This is how strong and deeper relationship were made in the old time.
Conclusion
This paper has discussed the different methods of communication that were used during the old times and methods that are being used in the present time. With the invention of the different tools of communication, it has affected the relationship between people as people are now independent focusing on their activities and have no time to meet with others in the society. The old methods of communication helped in creating a strong a deeper relationship between people as people used to meet whenever there was a problem. The past methods of communication made people to be one as they were all concerned with the problem of the other one; thus creating strong relationships.
