Improving Nurse Education to Embrace Technology: Components
The proposed topic above aims to look into ways to improve the education of nurses so as to enable them embrace technology in their profession. This topic is relevant to my doctoral program of study: doctor of business administration with a specialization in health care administration. The specialization in health care administration enables the student to review health care issues. With regards to this topic proposal, the aim is to establish strategies of improving nurse education so that they can embrace technology in the health care industry. There are several components of this topic paper
The foremost section of the topic paper is the introduction. The introduction provides readers with the main ideas of the proposed topic. The introduction begins with exploring the basis ideas of the topic, for instance, a look at nursing profession in the health care industry. More details on the topic, like the impact of technology in health care industry, are discussed in the introduction. Overall, the introduction gives an overview of areas to be done in the dissertation writing. The second component is the abridged literature review. The literature review segment has details from scholarly and peer reviewed sources that relate to the proposed topic (Brause. 2012).
The literature review sources should be recent with the oldest scholarly material being at most 5years old. This ensures that the content used to assert various facts in relation to the topic are relevant and valid. The literature review looks at the origin of the predicament as the research study indicates. Achieving this is through analyzing what previous research done by other researchers have said of the subject. The literature review also gives the researcher an opportunity to illustrate other methods of the research that have been tried.
The third component is the problem statement. The problem statement is a short overview of the problem reflected in the topic proposal (Brause. 2012). The problem statement in the topic proposal discussed aims to review the integration of technology into the education system of nurses. Other than a discussion to the problem reflected in the topic, the problem statement also indicates the importance of the study. It is vital to determine the main issue presented in the proposed topic. The problem statement must be supported by scholarly sources that demonstrate the validity and worth of the research topic at a doctoral level of study. The fourth component is the purpose statement is short prose text that describes the objective of the research study.
The problem statement is closely knit to the problem statement and should reflect on the research question for the same study. The purpose statement should indicate the study method adopted in the research study i.e. quantitative, qualitative or mixed method. The problem states also briefly indicates the data collection method will be conducted and the samples used. The fifth component is the research questions. As their title, research questions pose queries that ate answerable (Dunleavy, 2003). Researchers expect to have answered the research question(s) by the end of the research study. The methodology is the sixth vital component in a research study. The methodology segment allows the researcher to indicate the methods of study adopted for the research.
In the research proposal, the researcher intends to use qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative research focuses on use of technology in health care whereas the quantitative approach will involve actual data collection. The researcher details how he uses the study method selected to approach the research topic. The last component is the summary and conclusion which ties together all the main points of the research writing. The conclusion also illustrates the research method used, the findings and the outcome of the study. In this research study, the summary will focus an evaluation to improve the education of nurses to enable nurse embrace technology at their workplace.

Reflective Paper: DBA v. PhD
After completing an MBA, the next academic achievement that most students look out for is getting doctoral qualifications. There are two levels of doctoral qualification that an MBA student can consider: Doctor of Business Administration (BDA) or a Doctor of Philosophy in Business (PhD). Applied PhD aim to prepare students to engage in specialized scholarly research. Emphasis in applied PhD is on development of new strategies and theories in various fields. A DBA, on the other hand, focuses on application of new theory rather than development of new ones. A candidate who takes on a DBA is more prepared to engage in practical applications in different fields than one who takes applied PhD. In the past, the difference between a DBA and Applied PhD was definite (Wong, 2011).
An individual, who took DBA, would end up in a practical work setting in managerial positions. Individuals who took applied PhD ended up as researchers and professors in academic instructions. Currently, though, the distinction between the two doctorates is not quite distinct. A candidate can opt to do either a PhD or a DBA without experiencing any differences. At the university, candidates will engage in demanding courses. In both instances, a high level of commitment is mandatory. The students will also have to write and defend a dissertation and an exam before they qualify in their courses.
Personally, a doctor of business administration (DBA) matches my professional goals and the ultimate career I desire to engage in. I desire to actively participate in changing the health care industry. A DBA will guarantee that I acquire essential managerial perspectives and skills needed in the health care industry. Health care is among the crucial industries in societies. It is vital that the industry functions using the latest technologies and innovations aimed to improve the health care industry, and enhance the effectiveness among health care professionals such as nurses and physicians.
A DBA specialization in health care administration will enable me to focus specifically on the health care industry. Emphasis will be on determining problems hindering the effectiveness in the health sector, recognizing constraints and determining effective solutions. A DBA paper is practical and will thus enable be analyzing different problem within the health care industry. This will involve physically analyzing existing health care facilities. In my proposal topic, for instance, I have identified a problem with the education system of nurses in relation to their ability to embrace technology at their workplace. The aim will thus to determine effective intervention strategies and recommend a reliable plan of action.
A PhD for me would be vital but would not expose me to the application aspect of the theories that exist in the health care industry. A PhD will tie me to academic careers such as teaching and or research. DBA guarantees more opportunities, as I will not only write researches, but also apply my knowledge in real situations in the industry. If I later choose to engage in academic careers, the DBA qualification will still allow me to do so.
