The above article by Tagney and Hanies will be used in this assignment. The article focuses on key barriers present when undertaking and implementing nursing research. Evidence shows that implementing evidence based practices in nursing care has created challenges in most nursing specialists. According to this article, most nursing staff find it difficult to implement research findings in the real nursing care aspects. Apart from being discovered that there exist challenges in expansion of nursing research aspects, most strategies focus on academic approaches that leave nursing care without a solution. The approach used in conducting nursing research does not create a favorable implementation of findings. This translates that research conducted in nursing in most cases goes without being utilized at the end of things, (Chummun &Tiran, 2008).
Authors of this article highlights on some key barriers that have affected the industry of nursing research. Some of the barriers include barriers to finding and reviewing evidence. According to the article, nursing research lack enough time to access research conducted and review on the evidence that has been established. Lack of time means that it becomes difficult to implement findings collected. Another thing with nursing research highlighted by the article is the presence of barriers to changing practice. Technology has changed how industries perform their activities. This means that nursing industry have also changed their ways of operations. It is difficult to handle changing practices in nursing, and that is something that has created barriers. Nursing industry lacks enough time to implement changing practices developed by current technology something that may leave nursing industry drag as other industry advance in the changing practices, (Polit & Beck, 2012).
The article also highlights on the barriers that exist due to financial problems. Although nursing research is made and results developed, nursing care lacks funds to implements findings in the real life application. This is a major problem facing nursing industry, and it counts a lot on why nursing experiences challenges when it comes to development. Lack of support is another barrier discussed in this article. Most managers in the nursing industry fail to support change practices developed in any given findings. Evidence shows that, for a change to be effectively applied in a given situation, support from the management is required. In this case, parties involved in nursing problems find it challenging in supporting changes, and this has made nursing industry drag its operations in different angles, (Gerrish & Clayton, 2004).
I selected schematic model for the above case. This is the use of visual representations in order to develop some realities in a given situation. Suggested model for nurses in this article is an example of schematic models used in nursing research. It is used to explain the concept of nursing research development and how it should be applied in order help solve problems that exist in the nursing industry. Key components that make up nursing research successful or fail in a given situation are highlighted in the above model. The value of basing research on the above model is that it gives relevant information on how relevant parties should respond on different activities, (Maben & Griffiths, 2008).
