It stores historical as well as current data, therefore, they are used when creating trending reports such as quarterly and annual comparisons for the management.  Operation systems like sales, marketing etc. are used when uploading data to be stored in the warehouse. Before they are used, the data may pass through an operational data store for additional operations.

Data Validation in Data Warehousing Technology

The primary task in validation of data in the ware housing technology is reviewing the task used by the ETL tool. Care should be taken during data validation due to the large volume data volume to be loaded to ensure that mapping is validated to ensure that the data being loaded into specific elements is sourced from the tables that contain the information. A report will be created by the ETL tool which will be viewed or imported into the analytical interface such as Microsoft Access. Documentation of any transformation which occurred is then made. Use of counts will complete the next validation step. Running of the simple database queries can be done on either the entire table. It can be assume, that the records during the loading process or the ETL were not left out.
