Introduction

Environmental issues can be found in most parts across the globe. Some of the environmental issues affect the air, water, animals, and the land. Most of the environmental issues that is affecting the environment can be eliminated or reduced by use of proactive measures or corrective actions. There are different forms of pollution across the globe, but one of the most effective forms of pollution is water pollution. There is a short supply of water pollution. The global reserve of safe water to be consumed by human is in a fraction of one percent and one in every five humans does not have access to safe water (Hill, M 2010). Water is an incredibly unique substance because it has the ability to cleanse and renew itself. This is through sedimentation or through diluting pollutants until it is not harmful. Water pollution normally occur when materials and energy are released thus, degrading the quality of water. Water pollution includes all the water materials that are released in water which cannot be broken naturally by water (Abler, D & Shortle, J 2001). Anything that is added in water, which cannot be broken down by water is pollution. There are times pollution occurs by its self like when water flows through the soil together with high acidities.

Water pollution

This paper will aim at answering some of the most essential issues relating to water pollution. Answering some of these questions will provide information on how water pollution can be reduced, how it can be eliminated, laws that the government can use to prevent water pollution, and the sources of water pollution. Water pollution questions include

$11.      What are the sources of water pollution?

There are two sources of water pollution which include non point sources and point sources (Abler, D & Shortle, J 2001). Non point source water pollution is that pollution which comes from many diffuse or miscellaneous sources instead of from a specific point. Point source pollution is that pollution that directly comes from a source that is known like sewage or an industry.

$12.      What are the effects of water pollution?

This question will answer how effective water pollution is to all living things. When water is polluted it includes a lot of poisonous chemicals. Sea animals tend also to be poisonous as they have accumulated the toxins from the environment.

$13.      What is the impact of industrial activity on water pollution?

Some of the industrial activities greatly contribute to water pollution. Most industries dispose their waste to rivers, which contribute to water pollution. Industries cause heat pollution as industries release hot water before they cool it. Industries are required to cool the water before it is released to the water sources.

$14.      How can water pollution be prevented?

There are several laws that have been put in place so as to prevent water pollution. The government has rules and regulations that restrict industries from disposing their waste into the rivers and lakes (Elder, N & Powers, A 2008). This question will also provide techniques that individuals should use in order to prevent water pollution. Most people think that industries, agricultural, and mining operations are always responsible of water pollution. It is also important for us to make sure that we take the responsibility of ensure that we conserve water. This will help in ensuring that less water is running down the drain.

$15.      What impact does agriculture and domestic waste have on water pollution

Domestic waste includes biodegradable waste, toxic and hazardous chemical pollutants (Agarwal, S 2009). Toxic and hazardous chemicals that are released to the environment by individuals are more dangerous and they are also more preventable. The agricultural contributors of water pollution are through sediments and nutrient pollution. Fertilizers and livestock waste contain phosphorus and nitrogen that is carried to streams and lakes through run offs.

Conclusion

There are a lot of choices on societal and personal level, which people have to make that will affect the amount of water pollution that people will be forced to live with. If people decide to take care of the environment and make sure that they do not pollute the environment, the issue about pollution can be solved.
