It provides vivid details and description of the major religions in the world such that information obtained from this source was reliable. The intense research carried out by the author, as well as, expanse details of very recent key events in the religious arena makes the source even more valuable for the study. Similarly, use of colorful up to date charts which provide outlines of the interactions among the major religions is significant in establishing the geographical localities of various religions. This was significant for the section that required details of the interactions between Islam and various geographical regions in the world. Consequently, various experts practicing different religions have presented professional and spiritual explanations regarding myths believed to be part of their religions hence no doubt about the reliability, as well as, validity of the information.

This source has a detailed description of almost all the religions that are present in the world today. The most intriguing aspect of this reference is that it provides a complete overview for contrasting the described religions. This contrast was significant in analyzing the nature and extent of relationships amongst the various religions. The contrasts points were clearly indicated, as well as, accompanied by detailed explanations of what the religions meant to each other. This enabled the researcher to understand the impact of each religion on the other, in addition to, the perception of believers of other religions on Islam for this case. Although the book is designed as an introductory source of information, the guidelines provided in the book enable one to get an insight into the inner of the world’s religions. Consequently, the language that has been used in the book is simple and easy to understand hence the researcher does not get tied up with strange vocabulary.


3. Ninian, S. (1998), the world’s religions. Cambridge University Press.

The historical overview of the world’s religions is depicted clearly in this source and the author provides a vivid description of how the religions in the world have evolved over time. This historical explanation culminates into the spread of religions as well as development of new cultures after subsequent interactions amongst themselves. The book later on provides explanations regarding the effect of voyages taken by past religious groups as being fundamental in promoting cultural diversity in religion. Consequently, the changing world which is highly diverse has led to alteration and dilution of the Islamic teachings such that the context of past together with current teachings are very different.
