Apple Inc Is An International Company
Apple Inc is an international company situated in Cupertino, California. The company designs, develops and sells a wide range of products. It designs, manufactures and sells consumer electronic goods, software and personal computers. Steve jobs established the company on 1st, April, 1976. It was incorporated in 1977. The company offers a wide range of consumer electronic goods including iPad, iPod and iPhone. The software produced by the company includes OS X and iOS operating systems. The company has also produced iTunes media browser and Safari web browser. Apple is the third biggest mobile manufacturing company globally after Nokia and Samsung. In 2008, the company was named as the most admired firm in US by fortune magazine. It was also the most admired company in the worlds from 2008 to 2012 based on fortune magazine. The company 394 retail stores in 14 nations, Apple stores and ITunes stores. Apple is the biggest publicly traded company globally in terms of market capitalization. The company had a value of $626 billion by September 2012. The company has a big market capitalization that Google and Microsoft together. The company revenue in 2010 amounted to $65 billion and in 2012 $156 billion (Wikimedia, 2012).
2. Steven Paul or Steven Jobs is an American entrepreneur born on 24th, February, 1955 and died 5th October, 2011. He founded Apple Inc and acted as the company CEO and chairman. Many people recognized Steven as a charismatic founder of the personal computer revolution. Also, people recognize him for his influential job in the computer and consumer electronics while working in Apple. Steven also founded and worked in other organizations. He founded Pixar Animation Studio with other entrepreneurs and worked as the chief executive. He also worked as a member of the Walt Disney Company board of directors in 2006 after acquisition of Pixar. Steven played an essential role in the introduction of the Laser Writer in the market. He established neXT after the power struggle with the directors in Apple in 1985. The company specialized in higher education market and business market. The Next STEP platform led to the development of Mac OS X after Apple failed to deliver its OS. Steve returned to Apple in 1998 and made it profitable. He supervised the development of iPad, iPhone, iPod, iTunes and iMac. Steve has received various honors and recognition due to his contribution in the technology industry and music industry. Many people refer to him as the visionary or father of the digital revolution (Wikimedia, 2012).
3. The Macintosh (Mac) refers to personal computers designed, manufactured and sold by Apple. The company targets different markets using Mac such as education, creative professional and home. Steven introduced the first Macintosh on 24th, January, 1984. The Macintosh was the first computer to have a mouse and graphical interface instead command line interface. The popularity for Mac dropped in 1990s as people moved to the Wintel platform. The company consolidated its desktop models into iMac which revived the Mac brand. The modern Mac runs different OS including Linux. Apple does not license OS X to be used in non Apple computers (Wikimedia, 2012).
4. Steven Jobs gave a speech at Stanford University before his death. He talks about how to live before dying. He told the audience to strive to achieve their dreams and see the opportunities in challenges in life including death. Steve talked about his life in college and the hard decisions he was forced to make. Steven dropped out of Reed College due to lack of school fees and attended Calligraphy class. In addition, Stevens and his friends established Apple after dropping from college. He learned calligraphy, and this contributed a lot to the design and development of Macintosh. He used knowledge acquired from the calligraphy to develop the typeface. He also started neXT after being forced out of apple by the directors due to power struggles(Wikimedia, 2012).
