After accomplishing my first degree in the Caribbean, I graduated with a management degree. I then worked in a company as a trainee in management. By then, I had not thought much about my career path. After being a trainee for several months in the company, I realized I needed a career that would be secure, has longevity and an industry which gives one an opportunity to develop my strength and personal growth. This was a very hard period for my life. Each morning, I pandered on what steps to take to fulfill my desires and to achieve my dreams. After a while, I came to a conclusion that what defines my happiness is where I interact with people and see their facial expression after solving their hardest challenges in life. This made me decide to change my career into a more fulfilling one.

I then applied for a job as an administrative coordinator in another company. I was given the chance which I have worked for a year. During this job, I realized my passion was to help people and meet new people. This job therefore, did not satisfy my desires. I talked much about this with my friends and family members. I also searched for various job openings and what I discovered was that nursing would suit my innate desires and compassion of helping people.

My role model is my mother who has worked tirelessly for the last ten years in the nursing industry. I have seen her excel each year. She tells us of the daily experience she undergoes and how the patients have improved compared to the day they were admitted. I find this very rewarding and fulfilling. The enthusiasm in her tells me that she truly enjoys what she does. After telling her of my intentions, she has been encouraging me and telling me that nursing is career that truly suits me because I enjoy being of help to other people and will suit my personality.

It is my confidence that I will one day become a nurse. After the discussions I have had with my mother and other professionals in the field of nursing, I am convinced that I have the stamina and the required commitment to face the challenges in the career of nursing. I am also aware of the highly superb reputation of New YorkUniversity. Through the positive testimonies I have heard from the alumni students from the University, my interest to join New YorkUniversity has been deepened. I also acknowledge the fact that the nursing faculty at New YorkUniversity is one of the best in Manhattan and New YorkState in general. It is my greatest hope that you will give me the chance and the privilege to be one of you as I pursue my studies at the fine institution of NYU.
