Cost of health care in United States

Radio Summary

391:“More is less” program got aired on 10/09/2009. United States has experienced literal crisis in the cost of healthcare, which led to the amendments of the former health care bill. The radio program This American Life (produced by Public Radio International) did a recommendable peace of how it developed as the following summary elucidates: According to the first Act “Dartmouth Atlas Shrugged” radio presenter Ira Glass argued his thoughts on why the heath care costs keep on shooting up. Glass stated that the key contributory factors to increased healthcare cost are use of expensive and high tech gear as well as high priced drugs. Furthermore, United States has higher administrative cost than other countries since the health care composition with its insurers and contributors is enormously complex.

The radio commentator David Frum claimed that George W. Bush has a record of the worst economic performance of any two-term president since the numbers got gathered. In addition, although he was part of the bush administration’s economic team, Frum admits their low economic performance. Additionally, Frum says that, over those eight years, the employers increased the workers pay by 25%, but employers received nothing of that money. The median U.S. employees got less pay in 2007 than that employee got earning adjusting for inflation in the 2000. At this time, the employer still paid 25% more. Now the question goes where that money did go? Frum answered that it all went to compensate the rising cost of health care.

The hospital, patience and the insurance bills also led to the increment of the health care costs. This cost rise resulted from the dependency of the insurance companies on hospitals as well as patient’s pay. The insurance companies have less impact on ensuring reduces health costs since they rely on hospitals. However, the government has a patent in reducing healthcare cost through its Medicare regulatory board.
