Internship journal for Math classroom (middle school)

Time period: 7:45am – 10:45am
I was welcomed by the head teacher who introduced to the other members of staff with whom I will be working with throughout my internship period. He assigned me one teacher who will be guiding me in whatever I do including assigning of duties. I found the person assigned to guide me relevant because after sharing with him I realized that he had taken the same course I had taken and for which I had come for attachment here. During this day he showed me some of the staff in the department of Mathematics and also fellow interns who we were to interact with on daily basis. These were the people to help me sharpen my skills in my field of study and also show me how to apply the skills practically.
On this day I helped students who were preparing for their exams contacted in the entire state. I assisted them in solving some mathematical problems from past paper and also from the classroom textbook they had been using. We also revisited some of the problems they could not be able to solve on their own from whichever source. This was done in conjunction with the teacher who helped me identify some of the weak students in the class who needed special attention. Since the teacher had other in other classes to take care of I took care of the Mathematics class of ESL students especially.
I appreciated the warm welcome I got from the staff members. I also liked the team work which was embraced in the work place. The bit which thrilled me so much was the assigned given to me because it helped me recall some of very essential mathematical formulae and solutions.
I enjoyed the day.
