The process and goals in writing journal article critiques
When writing journal article critiques, it is important to note the basic information which is part of the article. These includes information such as the as the name of the author, the date, title and problem statement which is being described in the article. After taking note of the identity of the article to be criticized, the reader goes through the whole article identifying various aspects of the article such as the relationship between the problem statement and the research design. Similarly, it is important to establish the relevance of the discussion or study such that the reader can conclude whether the objectives of the discussion have been achieved (Ramos, 2007).
In the course of reading through the article, it is important to note and establish if there is any relationship between the title of the title, problem statement and the content which is discussed in the paper. This is especially essential as it provides a better focus for the reader when writing the critique (Ramos, 2007).One crucial goal that every writer should have in their mind when writing critique articles is identification of major flaws in another authors works so that they may avoid the same in their articles. This involves a professional scrutiny of the article so that the writer is able to write on each section that is being criticized (Ramos, 2007).

One of the major challenges faced by critique writers is lack of related articles which provide a better comparison basis for the critique paper. Similarly, lack of adequate information on the appropriate format to be used when writing the journal critique article, is another challenging issue(Ramos, 2007).

Individuals who are interested in writing journal article critiques should be wiling to read widely on various topics so that they can develop a specific area of interest a sit is not possible to criticize all fields. They should also be willing to read the articles which will be criticized more than twice such that they are able to identify the areas which will be criticized. This calls for a lot of patience as well as possession of knowledge on various research methods which researchers use in addition to a clear understanding of the qualities of a journal article (Ramos, 2007).
