Day care centre

Day care refers to the care of a child during the day (Kail, 2007). The child is care for by another person who is allowed to take care of the child, but not the mother. Day care is usually performed by a person who is not related to the family. Most parents take children to day care during day time as they have no time to take care of them. The parents are always at work. People provide day care in different places. A nanny can provide day care to young children at her home. Day care is also provided in nurseries or any other place that is convenient. Day care services can also be carried out formally (Kail, 2007). For example the care taker can provide instructions to the child, help the child develop well and have good behavior. Day care can also be provided in a private facility designed to provide day care. There are two different types of day care. Day care can be for profit and not for profit day care. Not for profit day care are more convenient as they are not aimed at making profits like for profit day care. In addition, they provide good environment for children to live. Not for profit day care are provided and managed by parents.


Children in day care centers grow different and exhibit different behaviors. So the caregiver should be ready to care for the children well (Jenks, 2005). When observing the children one can see the child behaving differently. The children in the day care centre aged two to three years appear to be social (Jenks, 2005). For example, the children play with each other, hold hands and sit together. Also, one is able to see how the children are socializing with other children in the day care centre. Children learn how to socialize from a tender age. Most of the children will have bad behave like hitting other children, but the day care person will help them understand the need to be disciplined and respect other children (Jenks, 2005).This is because the environment is conducive for the children to socialize. In addition, the children have difficulties in communication so they are not able to communicate properly with other children.


The main reason children aged two to three years have communication difficulties is because they have not developed well. Children learn how to communicate from day care at the age of 4 years as they associate with other children (Jenks, 2005).The children in the day care centre mostly use verbal representation, but not complete speech when communicating with other children (Jenks, 2005). Most of the children are not able to move as they have not developed fully. The children learn how to move with time. Most of the children aged two to three years in the day care crawl, step and stand up holding other children, but do not move completely (Jenks, 2005).Most people do not notice the importance of day care, but day care helps a child learn how to communicate (Jenks, 2005). As the child continues to grow, his communication skills continue to improve. Moreover, one can see how the child is growing physically and mentally just by observing. Children show good behaviors and lack understanding of what is happening around him (Jenks, 2005).


 

The environment is conducive for the children (Jenks, 2005). This makes it easy for the children to interact well. The children always like playing with each other and seem to socialize well. This is because young children need more time to play and grow mentally and physically.The children in day care centre think differently (Jenks, 2005). They do not think like adults. This is because the children have not grown mentally like adults. The children need enough time to grow mentally and interact well with other children (Jenks, 2005). The children are not ware of what is happening around them and the environment. They do not notice activities carried out by other children. This is because the children have not grown up mentally to notice anything from the environment (Jenks, 2005).Also, children in the day care centre are able to play using pictures and other objects (Jenks, 2005). The children try to represent the objects using images on the ground. The caregiver tries to help the children learn how to present pictures and other objects using images.


The children have different behaviors because they are young. The children differ from adults in different ways. Psychological theories are used to explain the behaviors above (Jenks, 2005).The communication, interaction   and other activities are influenced by psychological theories. For example, the activities are influenced by cognitive development theories, behavioral theories and social theories (Oates &Grayson, 2004). The theories explain why the children behave differently from adults. In cognitive development theories, children are not able to think well like adults (Oates &Grayson, 2004). Cognitive development theories are concerned with the development of the mind. Young children behave and communicate differently from adults. This is because children mind have not developed fully (Oates &Grayson, 2004). For example, in the day care centre the children have difficulties in communication. The children communicate using verbal responses, but not speech.


In addition, the children are not able to move around, but remained seated. This is because the children are not fully developed. Pig eat developed the cognitive development theory in children (Oates &Grayson, 2004). The author explained why children differ from adults. The author explained how children differ in mental process and how the interact. According to the author, children aged 2-3 years do not have good communication skills and they do not know how to move (Oates &Grayson, 2004). The children only use symbols and verbal means to communicate. Also, the children do not know how to interact with the environment. The children in the day care centre do not know how to interact with the environment (Oates &Grayson, 2004). The children are less concerned with what is happening in the environment. Thus, the behavior of the children is influenced by cognitive development theory.According to Pig eat theory a child is able to play with other children. At the preoperational stage the child is able to act ob objects. The child learns to use objects and present objects using images (Oates &Grayson, 2004). The child is not able to think during this stage as he has not developed fully (Oates &Grayson, 2004).


The Children behavior at the day care centre is governed by behavioral theories (Kail, 2007). Behavioral theories analyze the behavior of the child. That is motor development of the child, development of verbal behavior. Watson developed behavioral theory to explain why children have unique behaviors from adults. According to the author, children learn how to move, climb and crawl from biological factors (Kail, 2007). The environment influences how children learn to step, climb and crawl. Some of the children learn how to crawl and walk from other children. The caregiver helps the children learn how to move and crawl at the day care centre, children tried to move, crawl, and step. The movement is influenced by the surrounding and the person in charge. The children are not able to walk normally like adults (Kail, 2007).Children in the day care centre show different behaviors (Kail, 2007). This is because children are influenced by the environment. According to the behavioral theory, a child shows various behaviors like imitation and verbal behavior.


Children try to imitate other children who are much older (Kail, 2007). They try to copy the communication, but fail to speak clearly because the brain has not developed fully. The person in charge of the children in the day care is expected to teach children how to behave. Children in the day care centre showed funny behaviors like hitting other children, but the care giver tried to train then to be responsible (Kail, 2007).Lastly, the behavior of the child is influenced by social development theories (Kail, 2007). The child learns how to socialize from the environment. Children will not learn how to socialize from an environment that is not conducive (Kail, 2007). The type of the environment influences the behavior of the child and socialization. The environment in the day care centre is conducive. This makes it easy for the child to socialize with other children in the day care centre. For example, children in the day care centre hold hands and play together. This shows that the environment is fit for the children. The caregiver should guide children to develop well and know how to socialize (Kail, 2007).
