Debate
Science in my opinion is a field of study that tries to establish why things are the way they are. It also involves study of the existence of life and how it comes about. From the above view of what science is I would like to classify it into two broader categories namely natural science and human social science.
In natural science it involves study of natural aspects which includes the biological life of things. This includes the process by which living creatures are formed and the stages through which the go through till death and possibly what causes the death. The in the social sciences the study here is more about understanding human nature and his behaviors. One here will study why human beings will behave differently at different times of their life. Mental growth and the logic behind different reaction to different situations by individuals are also studied here.
We undertook a debate to discuss what science is and the outcome of the debate was more of an affirmation to what I knew prior to the debate. From the debate I leant some new concepts about science. It emerged that Science is a discipline which is very systematic. In all the activities involving science one must follow some specific guidelines which should be consistent with what is in existence.
Science involves proving the truth of any allegation and it doesn’t take things for granted. The proving processes are defined by experimentations which are controlled. Any failure in experiments is repeated before the final conclusion is made. In the human behaviors theories are tested and repeated to determine whether the outcomes produce similar results. If any theory proves to be true depending on the supportive data then the better for it. Therefore science can generally be termed to be testable, duplicatable, based on proof and reliable.
