The tropical rain forest is an ecosystem component that offers moist climate in the equatorial region. Evidence shows that this ecosystem covers approximately 7% of the earth’s surface. With its high level of precipitation, rain forest has the potential of supporting three levels of vegetation namely the top level, the ground level, and the canopy level. Ground level is made of light sparse vegetation plus the region supports high rate of matter decomposition. The lower level supports life for plants simply because it has fertile components. Study shows that ecosystems are supported by abiotic and biotic components that interact to develop supportive nature. The rain forest is supported by abiotic factor. Ecosystems have different climates that help in developing components of that given ecosystem. In this case, the rain forest ecosystem is made of warm climate with a high level of participation. The region has high levels of rains that enable the place develop an environment that supports growth of plans. The evergreen plantation in the region makes it look beautiful and attractive for human and animal survival. Rain forest ecosystem supports vegetation that has strong roots that absorb nutrients from the soil. This makes it difficult for other plants to grow. A slight drought in the rain forest means that the play may experience loss when the fire catches the place, (Berg & Hager, 2009).
This ecosystem is one of the few ecosystems in the world that experiences a lot of challenges. It is endangered in different angles, and that is the reason why the place is experiencing challenges that may make it weather. Energy flow is one of the many cycles that will make rain forest ecosystem become affected in the few years to come. Evidence shows that the biogeochemical cycles pose challenges in the rain forest something that may affect the entire place to a level of losing most of the living things in the near future. Plants in the rain forest are the source of food for wildlife plus the energy used by human beings. The biogeochemical cycle helps this region become self independent. Animals and plants die and then decompose to provide the required nutrients such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and oxygen. These nutrients are vital for life support in this region thus the cycles must continue in order to realize the expectations of the ecosystem. The different biogeochemical cycles supported in this region develop impacts on the life present in the rainforest, (County, 2010).
Rainforest is necessary in global weather simply because it ensures that climate is best for humans. In other words, rainforest can be termed as human planet’s lungs simply because it helps store the huge level of carbon dioxide released and later it changes this gas into oxygen that is used by living things. The carbon cycle in the rainforest helps develop oxygen that world uses and the process are developed through the abiotic and biotic elements. Human activities in the factories and the amount of CO¬2 produced in the breathing process destroy the planet. The rainforest region helps to restore in this condition. Abiotic environments commonly use nitrogen. Living things have this element which is used in different ways. The nitrogen cycle is created by the process where nitrogen moves from abiotic elements to the biotic elements. Since most organisms have no potential to use nitrogen in its complex form, the nitrogen cycle helps decompose nitrogen into a form this organism may be able to take. Human activities such as growth of plants affect the balance of the planet simply because the amount of nitrogen present in fertilizer used is high, (Berg & Hager, 2009).
Ecosystem in the rain forest does one of the most useful functions simply because it organizes itself in a way that it ensures all living things in the region get what they require for survival. The ecological succession is the aspect which helps the rainforest ecosystem develops balance although humans due to the need of money destroy the process. Natural disasters that affect rainforest develop an aspect of adaptation. Living things in rainforest region must adapt to the situation, and this is the main reason why they make changes some survive and other dies in the process of adaptation, (County, 2010).
Although there are other aspects that affect this ecosystem, humans create the greatest impact on the rainforest. One thing is that humans rely on rainforest for nitrogen cycle that produces oxygen for survival. Another thing is that the rainforest is the source of energy used by humans in their activities such as warming, lighting, and cooking among others. Deforestation has reduced the area covered by the rainforest in the last 50 years. Another thing is the increase in human population has a significant impact on the ecosystem. Humans are cutting trees to create industries for their own benefit. Evidence shows that the displacement present in the rainforest will affect this ecosystem simply because living things are killed during the deforestation process, (Berg & Hager, 2009).
