Educational Research Framework Process

The study of the unit research methods and more specifically to the study of the educational research process impacted me with the knowledge of critically thinking and analyzing concepts and writing it out in a research assignment. The study on educational research framework for instance made me realize that the main purpose of such a research is to solve a specific problem by analyzing it from data collected first-hand and observable evidence. This factor challenged me to go out in the field to collect primary data so as to justify the validity of the research that I conduct.

Learning of this unit also enabled me to understand the different approaches that can be applied to the study of education research. The basic approach is conducted in relation to the completion of a certain course for a student. The applied approach involves studies top find solutions to existing educational problems. The applied approach aims to find information with reference to a problem.

Information of the methodology of the research was also informative and acts as guidance to the students that aspire to use the quantitative and qualitative methods of educational research study. Emphasis on the collection of descriptive data gives validity to any educational research that is conducted. Research conducted this way will pass as Qualitative. The quantitative approach focuses on numerical collection of data which act as description of the reality on the ground (Wallen, & Fraenkel, 2001).

On the ethical perspective of conducting the research it was mind opening to realize the ethical implications that are involved in conducting an educational research. Knowledge of the ethical issues in research is different from applying the ethical issues to the educational research itself. The study on the various perspectives of ethics was also informative and useful for future use when conducting educational research (Qureshi, 2005).

Use of the format of the mind map was the most appropriate way to note the new ideas and reflections that I have learned in the unit that focuses on educational research process.

With the key central idea as educational research framework, the ideas that I have acquired through the learning of research methods can then be systematically written with reference to the various sub sections that are tackled in the topic. The main idea of research writing is to focus on research problem and how to solve the problem. From analyzing the framework of the research problem one can analyze the best approach to attack the research problem. Research written for academic purposes is different for the research that is purposely done with the aim of solving a particular problem in the education sector.

For instance the study of educational research process involves the writer focusing on the appropriate methods of collecting data, which include the numerical, quantitative data collection method and the qualitative data collection method. I learned that a researcher cannot assume that all the research problems can use any kind of data collection method. I have learnt that it is important for the client to critically analyze the problems he wants to focus on before deciding the best approach to use. I also learned that ethical concern should be an issue for every researcher to determine the implication and negative impacts that may arise as a result of conducting the study and research methods.

With a mind map, it is possible to clearly indicate this reflections and ideas that I have learned without stating them in prose form. At first glance therefore the reader will be able to see the main points discussed in the entire assignment.
