Electromagnetic Spectrum

Electromagnetic spectrum is important as it helps commanders make rapid decisions, carry out operations, and take actions quickly (Elder, USAF, 2009). Most countries do not have good Electromagnetic spectrum, so they are not able to make rapid decisions, and act on time. Signal intelligence can help commanders make rapid decisions and act on time (Elder, USAF, 2009). Signal intelligence is a type of intelligence gathering used to gather signals. Signal intelligences helps intercept signals between people. Most countries use signal intelligence to gather data, scan it and plan various military operations. It also helps intercept electronic signals (Elder, USAF, 2009). In the 21^st century, signal intelligence will be used to intercept electronic signals from Electromagnetic spectrum. Diplomatic, military and informational groups will need to use signal intelligence to gather signals that will help them survive in the current environment. Countries will have to use electromagnetic system to help them achieve strategic advantage (Elder, USAF, 2009). In addition, the electromagnetic spectrum will help them improve security and strength power in the country. Also, countries must integrate various aspects like EW and cyber so as to manage activities in the environment.

The signal intelligence will help countries organize different signals so as to achieve strategic advantage. Through signal intelligence countries will have adequate information to help improve security in the country and co-ordinate activities. Moreover, signal intelligence will be used to collect data for future planning and defense (Elder, USAF, 2009).Signal intelligence plays various roles in strategic and tactical collection. Countries rely on signal intelligence to manage military operations (Elder, USAF, 2009). It is difficulty for a country to strengthen military operations if it does not have signal intelligence. Thus, countries should strength electromagnetic spectrum and integrate various technologies using signal intelligence (Elder, USAF, 2009). An example of nation state target for intelligence collection is Russia and United States. Russia has targeted collections towards United States. Russia use signal intelligence to gather information about United States and prepare adequately to overcome any threats. It helps analyze if the country is vulnerable or not (Elder, USAF, 2009).Signal intelligence in strategic collection is used to acquire information about other countries.

It helps analyze the military situations for the country. In addition, it helps get information about the security situations of a country (Elder, USAF, 2009). The information gathered is important in strengthening military operations in the country. It also helps improve decision making process. Signal intelligence in strategic collection is used to prevent crises. It helps countries identify crises early and establish measures to counteract thud crisis (Elder, USAF, 2009).In tactical collection, signal intelligence will help military officers collect information about the enemy, the operational measures and the type of signals used by the enemy. This will help the military plan well (Elder, USAF, 2009). The military will be able to plan how to overcome the signals send by the enemy and achieve the objective. Tactical collection of signals is important as it helps build strategic plans that will help the military succeed. In conclusion, signal intelligence will help war fighters prepare well by integrating various technologies and intercepting signals well (Elder, USAF, 2009).
