There are two factors that are used to predict love. That is proximity and similarity. The factors play an important role in determining love. For example, proximity determines the strength of a relationship. Researchers argue that physical proximity determines the strength of a relationship. People who are at a closer proximity are likely to have a health relationship than people who are not close. Also, similarity affects the strengths of a relationship. People who have similar interests are likely to form a strong relationship than people who have no similar interests. This is because similarity prevents partners from having constant conflicts. This makes it easy for the relationship to thrive.
Current research on love and intimacy has shown that the number of people who are involved in online dating has increased. This is because of the advances in technology. Internet has become common in the society and this has changed the mode of dating. People have changed from normal dating procedures to online dating. Online dating has negative effects on love and intimacy. Researchers argue that online dating has affected the factors of proximity and similarity. Online dating might reduce the level of proximity between the dating partners. This is because the partners are geographically displaced and communicate using the internet. Researchers claim that online dating prevents people from having health relationships. This is because people are not close to each other. This leads to decrease in the amount of love and increase in conflicts. In addition, researchers argue that proximity increases likeliness. Online dating does not increase likeliness as the partners are not ware of each other (Fiske Gilbert &Lindzey, 2010).
Online dating affects similarity. It is difficulty for people dating online to have similar interests. This results to conflicts and bad relationships. Similarity creates likeliness. Researchers can use four participants to test the impact of online dating on proximity.Two of the participants will be subjected to online dating and two to normal dating procedures. Then the researchers will analyze the effects of online dating on proximity (Fiske Gilbert &Lindzey, 2010).
The biological and social causes of sex differences are closely related. Biological factors contribute a lot to men and women behavior. For example, children inherit genetic materials from their parents. The genetic materials determine how one behaves. Researchers claim that hormones and other biological process influence ones behavior. Some hormones make people have abnormal behaviors. For example, there are hormones responsible for violent behavior. Apart from biological factors, social factors influence men and women behavior. For example, the rearing environment and method determines how one behaves. Children who are raised well behave well unlike children who are not raised well. Family members influence ones behavior. For example, children brought up in violent homes develop violent behaviors (Fiske Gilbert &Lindzey, 2010).
The biological and social factors relate to gender and gender roles. Social factors like social construction on gender influences gender roles. The society has identified roles that are suitable for women and men. Also, biological factors determine ones sexual orientation and roles (Fiske Gilbert &Lindzey, 2010).
Biology and gender are related. This is because biology has helped researchers know how biological hormones bring gender identity and roles. There are hormones in men that contribute to masculinity. For example, the testosterone hormone contributes to masculinity in men. The hormones also determine gender roles among women and men. There are hormones in female that determine feminine social roles. The hormones have helped differentiate men and women roles. For example, men are not able to give birth like women as they do not have hormones that sustain pregnancy (Fiske Gilbert &Lindzey, 2010).
