The Freedom and Human Happiness

The Freedom and Human Happiness

No, since according to several scholars’ happiness and freedom are incompatible. Incase people want to be happy and protected or secure, then what they need is not freedom rather they need control.  For example, if a young man boasts that he has achieved more since he owns a new Maclaren super sport car. He could feel as if all freedom belongs to him, as well as, happiness. However, his individual demand for autonomy and free choice goes against the state’s law of control.  Such individuals increasingly make more trouble. Individuals require being restricted in order to be happy.

A popular psychologist B. F. Skinner (1904-1990) stated that people must get “beyond dignity and freedom (ethical sovereignty and choice) if they desired to be happy.” Skinner’s argument embarked the limits that get put together through technology and social structures that are rationally and scientifically engineered to generate certain defined (controlled) outcomes. Furthermore, B.F. Skinner (1971) “a technology of behaviors” also argues that the prosperous quest of happiness is largely accountable for pollution.

People increase their happiness through the technological advancements, but the fact remains to be “freedom and happiness are still incompatible”. As it gets now known to all, we live in an increasingly secular planet; the controls will be set through several types of social engineering, not religion. Consequently, this argument does not rule out the fact that religion is also eligible to control the universe. Religion also has an immense role to play in meeting control obligations. For example, many laws get enormous contributions from  a religious perspective, used in engineering social controls. Additionally, it is not enough to use technology with unfathomable understanding of human issues (B.F. Skinner (1971).
