Grant money chapter 4

Where to apply for grants from governments and private sector

Government grants are money given by the government to help in development. Each year the American government gives a large sum of money inform of grants. To get government grants is not easy as there is a lot of competition in the market (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). Due to the high demand for government grants people look for easy way to get the money without much effort. The government has a limit to provide, and getting free grant money is a long process and it needs a lot of research. The process involves writing a grant proposal, and applying for the grants (MUPMA, 2005). There is a lot of misconception about government grants that needs to be eliminated. First, people think government grant money is not real, but the grants are real. Others believe grant money should be repaid like loans.

This is not true since grants are aimed at helping the community improve living standards of people in the community (MUPMA, 2005). Due to stiff competition, thorough research, documentation, and clear application are required so as to get this free money. This is because government money is the only practical way people can get monetary assistance to carry out development, and improve the living standards. The government and private sector offers various categories of grants. They offer education grants to students wishing to continue with education (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). They also offer businesses grants to improve existing businesses and start small businesses. In addition, the government and private sector provide housing grants and research grants. They also offer health care grants to improve health care delivery. Thus, the grants offered by the government and private sector are diverse (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999).

Various groups can apply for grants from the government and private sector. Small businesses groups can apply for grants from the government, and private sector. Small businesses are vital to the countries economy as they form the foundation for the country’s economy (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). The government allocates a large amount of money for improving entrepreneurship in the country. Businesses grants are given to people owning small business to start up small business, and improve the existing businesses (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). The health care sector can also apply for government grants as health care delivery is important in the country.

Governments provide grants for improving health care services in the country. Women can apply for grants to improve their living standards. Due to the increased sensitivity towards women, governments allocate grants to help women improve their living standards. Students and other groups can apply for government grants (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995).The government and private sector encourages people to apply for free grants. The federal government and private sector are giving numerous amounts of grants to citizens. This is mainly to help them improve their living standards, pay medical bills and pay school fees. Any one in the country can apply for a grant.

The government does not limit people from applying grants as long as they meet the requirements (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995). People should find the requirements before applying for grants. This is because the requirements differ from one organization to another. Government requirements are stricter than requirements for private sector. This makes it difficulty for people to qualify for government grants. Most people do not know how to find the requirements before applying for grants (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995)The requirements for government grants and private sector grants differ from one grant to another. For example, the requirements for housing grants, educations grants are different from the requirements for research grants.

Thus, the applicant should identify the requirements before applying for grants (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995).People can identify the requirements from the organizations website, the library, journals or any other source. The sources have enough information about the government grants and private sector grants to guide the applicant (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995).People can apply for grants from the government and private sector through various sources. The applicant can visit online sources like the organizations website to identify the grants, and the requirements (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995). The government website provides enough information about grants. The website specifies the type of grants the government is offering.

Various types of grants are found on the website with full details. For example, the website has various grants like educations grants, businesses grants and research grants (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995). It also has housing grants and day care grants. The content of the websites is diverse so as to cater for the needs of various clients. Moreover, the government website contains information about the grantor and the requirements for the grant. The applicant should select the type of grant that suits his needs and identify the requirements. This will make it easy for the applicant to apply for genuine grants (Fromm, 2007). After identifying the grants and the requirement, the applicant should log in to the website to apply.

Most websites provide an inbuilt form for the applicant to fill. The form has steps to guide the applicant. The applicant should fill in all the details when applying for a grant online (Fromm, 2007). This is because government grants are competitive, and one has to give full details so as to qualify. Most people do not provide full information when applying for grants and they end up not getting any financial assistance. Grantors are strict and the first thing they check are the details of the applicant (Fromm, 2007). If the information is not complete, then the applicant fails. The applicant should submit a grant proposal, and gives full information so as to qualify for the grant. A large percentage of the population in the country does not know how to use online technology (Fromm, 2007).

This is because the government has not initiated projects to educate the community. This makes it dificuity for people to apply for grants online (Fromm, 2007). Hence, the biggest challenge in applying for grants is where to apply for grants and how to apply. Citizens should be provided with education to improve their skills on technology. This will make it easy for the community to apply for grants using online sources. Thus, people can apply for grants online (Fromm, 2007). Most organizations provide online forms for the applicants to fill. One can state any amount as long as he meets the requirements, and the amount stated is lawful. The government and private sector do not limit the amount of funds they offer (Fromm, 2007).

Another source where people can apply for government grants and grants from the private sector are libraries (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). One can get grants from Government agencies and private sector from the libraries. Public libraries have books that contain information about government grants, and private sectors (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). The books contain a list of government agencies, and firms in the private sector offering grants. The information in the books is organized well for the client to understand. The books contain information about the grantor, the types of grants and the requirements for each grant (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). Also, the books state clearly how to apply for grants.

A person can apply for grants from the library by filing forms provided by the grantor. The forms have enough information to help one apply for a grant (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). One can seek assistance from the library personnel on how to apply for grants incase of anything. This is because most people in the society are illiterate. Applying grants from the library is more convenient than applying grants online. This is because people get assistance from the library personnel, and they understand the grants, and grantors well (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). But, people applying grants on the website do not get assistance.

They feed the details in the form. The form has questions that are developed to guide the client. Another benefit of applying grants from the library is good is that, public libraries are available to any one and people can access them easily. While, online resources are not available everywhere and people cannot access them easily(Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999).One can visit government offices to apply for government grants and grants from the private sector. Most government agencies have offices where people can apply for grants. They provide forms for the applicant to fill (MUPMA, 2005). The personnel offer assistance to the clients. The client or applicant can ask for assistance when applying for grants.

Applying for grants from the offices has more benefit to the applicant. This is because the applicant gets enough information about the grantor, and the type of grants being offered (MUPMA, 2005). This benefits the client as he applies for genuine grants, but not fake grants. In addition, the applicants get information from the personnel on how to develop his or her application (MUPMA, 2005). The government agencies and firms in the private sector consider the application from the client when choosing the best candidate. The applicant should develop his or her application well so as to qualify for government grants, and grants from the private sector. The client has a better opportunity to analyze the requirements from the government, and firms in the private sector before applying for the grant (MUPMA, 2005).

Though, the government and private sector provide large amounts of grants annually. Most people do not know where to apply for grants and how to apply (MUPMA, 2005). Applying for grants requires a lot of time as one has to identify the grantor, and the grant that suits his or her needs. One has to take time to identify the right grantor so as to avoiding getting fake grants. Many people do not have enough time to look for grants and grantors (MUPMA, 2005). People do not know what is required, and what is not required when applying for a grant. When applying for a grant from the government or private sector, one does not need a credit check or collateral. Also, the applicant does not need a security deposit or cosigners(MUPMA, 2005).

When applying for a grant from the private sector or government, the grantor does not require credit history of the applicant. The applicant does not provide a description of his terms of payment or borrowing (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995). Credit checks are not applicable to grants and they do not prevent one from applying for a grant. One can apply for a grant even if his or her past record is not good (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995). Thus, credit checks should not limit people from applying for grants from the government, and private sector. Also, one does not need to have collateral. Collateral is a pledge made by a borrower on specific property. It acts as security for loans. If one does not repay the loan borrowed, then the lender owns the property pledged.

Collaterals are not used when offering grants (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995). This is because the government or firms in the private sector do not ask people to repay funds provided inform of grants. People should make use of government grants and grants from private sector because the grantors do not require the recipient to repay (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995). Government grants are free money and one can use more than one type of grant to improve his or her living standards. Grantors do not restrict the number of grants one applies. The applicant must meet the requirements for different grants before applying for a grant (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995).

The government and firms in the private sector do not require people to have cosigners when applying for grants. This is because grants are not loans and one does not require another person to pay the grant if he fails to do so. But, when applying for loans, one should have cosigner before applying for a loan. The cosigner repays the loan incase the applicant fails to repay it (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995).One can apply for a grant even if he is bankruptcy. Thus it is easy to apply for grant from the government or the private sector. One should meet the requirements of the government and the private sector(Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995). Many people do not apply grants because they view grants as loans. They think one needs a cosigner when applying for grants or collateral.

The confusion surrounding grants has made it difficulty for people to apply for grants from the government and private sector (Carlson &Support centers of America, 1995). This is because people mistake grants to be loans. They have the notion that one has to repay the grant or one should have a cosigner to repay the grant incase he fails to repay. Others think one should have credit security when applying for a grant (Carter-Black, 2006).In conclusion, the information above will help people understand what are grants, how to find and apply for grants. People can apply for grants from online sources like government websites, and other organizations websites. They can also apply for grants from the library and government offices. People should not confuse loans and grants because a grant is not a loan, but free money(Carter-Black, 2006).
