Organizations adopt technologies with the expectation that the technology will assist in improving overall operations (Khosrowpour, 2002). I agree with response B statement that technology helps managers to function with minimal face to face communication. However, I disagree with response B arguments that managers will be more reliant on data than face to face meetings in making decisions on the direction of the company.  By using technology, managers will not only be able to access data, but also hold meeting using virtual technology such as video conferencing. The need for physical movement so as to attend meetings will cease.  As a student, it is true that the university website is a vital information technology. Universities create websites to help their students to access resources such as e-library. The need to visit the physical library structure in school ceases.  Universities websites are also created so as to minimize paper work. Activities such as registration can be done via the university website.  It is true that, without the university website, all school activities would have to be done manually.

Students would have to queue so as to register for anew semester or a new course. The university library would also be congested with students trying to access reading material. These activities would not only be inconveniencing but, they would result to waste of time and energy.  I also agree with response B that an organization main function would grind almost to a halt without its technological systems.  Organizations are reliant on technology. Without these technologies, it would mean that employees have to do their task manually. Unfortunately, overreliance on technology systems has led to the majority of employees not able to perform their tasks.

I agree with response C. it is not possible to do away with face to face communication. Technology minimizes the need for face to face communication due to technological advances such as internet, emails, and telephone.  It is also true that managers rely on technologies such as emails, and telephones to communicate with employees. If these systems were non-existent communication would be complex. It is also a fact that students use technology for communication purpose. Students can communicate with one another about their courses and assignments. They can also use technology to source for information and do research work.  Without technology, one would have to revert to manually completing task. This includes tasks like physically locating books in the library and meeting colleagues for meetings and discussions.  On a positive note, I agree with response C that, without technology, there would be more job opportunities. Technologies such as computers, emails etc led to the reduction of workforce as employee’s duties were taken over by machines (Khosrowpour, 2002).

I also agree with response D that technology has minimized manager’s physical contact with employees. Technologies such as phone calls, emails and video conferencing, have minimal physical contact unless necessary. It is also true that a society without technology would be complicated but manageable. In the past, man survived without technology. He did so by manually doing different task (Khosrowpour, 2002). Similarly, if technology would be non-existence, man would have no alternative but to work manually. This would be difficult as the society is currently over reliant on technology.  The younger generations have been raised on the assumption that different technologies perform different tasks. They have thus not specialized in manually performing these tasks. Without technology, students in universities and, employees in organizations would find it quite challenging.
