From his book, Drath has the conception that, leadership source is increasingly going away from the single leader and also away from a single influencer. It is moving to a form of leadership that is relational, implying that community, group or a partnership is leadership. This is prompted by multi-cultural influences since various cultures concur that they ought to work together, and this is what is called shared work. In the current, competitive economy, there should be non-hierarchical leadership teams that are based on cooperation between employees and managers.


This point is illustrated with a parable about the president of a piano company. This president initially disregards but then listens to employees and wins their loyalty, which leads to spectacular changes. It is stated that, relational leadership together with people’s individuality develops from the interrelations individuals have with their overall society of people around them. From this perspective leadership can be defined as an aspect of a community rather than possession of a leader.


From the experience of leadership and literature I have read about leadership, I have realized three elemental principles about the leadership knowledge. Leadership comprises of interpersonal influence, personal dominance and relational dialogue that are considered to be the basic rules governing the nature of life realities. The individual aspect is extremely crucial in a relational leadership.


The interaction of three principles of leadership builds a holistic leadership foundation. In leadership, limits are inescapable and normal. The limitations should be applied to ensure that there is the credible leadership in the individual and leadership experiences. Effective leadership is that which incorporates the different members of the society.
