Life Stress

Life Stress

After taking the Life stress Inventory, I scored 10 points. These points are in the category of 7-12 on Pretty Good control.  Stress according to Hans Selye is the body’s nonspecific symptoms to any kind of demand (Waughfield, Waughfield, & Burckhaiklter, 2002, p 29).  The response is caused and results to unpleasant or pleasant conditions. Stressful situations, which last for a long duration can lead to prolonged level off lasting stress, the body’s nervous system senses the impact and will continue to pump undesired hormones that wear out the body.  Long term stress makes a person feel overwhelmed and depleted and may contribute to other health problems. After taking my test scores, the results were not surprising. This is because I ensure that avoid harmful habits that will lead to stress.

Some of the things I do avoid stress include the following; sleeping for  8 to 9 hours every night, being  realistic with my goals, avoiding over-scheduling of everyday activities, treating my body well, relaxing, and solving a few problems here and there. However, despite my efforts of controlling stress, much more have to be done to improve on my test level score. My general goal is not to eliminate stress entirely, but to maintain my stress level at an optimum stimulation level.  This is because under stimulation will causes dissatisfaction, frustration, boredom, and fatigue. The optimum zone will, however, make be satisfied, be creative, have hope to progress and change and to solve problems.

I will make efforts to apply stress management techniques in everyday activities. In order to improve on relationship, I will consider my workmates, classmates, and those whom I live with. I will ensure that avoid stressful environments that make me sad or depressed. I will do this by coming up with new habits that will distract or remove me from stressful situations and or pressures. I will also change my attitudes towards the stressors because this will help me to react with them and establish a positive relationship. I will paint my living environment with colors will calm and put me in the right mood.  Daily exercising will also help me control my stress levels.  This means to start exercising such as walking to work instead of boarding a bus.

Exercising will alleviate stress form my mind because I will put much concentration on the activities associated with vigorous exercising. Other exercises include Yoga Qigong and Tai chi. The activities use posses and stretches to enhance my relaxation, concentration, flexibility and strength.  In everything I do, I should make it as uncomplicated as possible. This first starts with a change of attitude and ability to prioritize things.  I will be realistic with setting long term and short term goals. In terms of education, I will ensure that I progress to a much higher level at the best time.

Time management is also essential. I should know when to do things that have to be done on a specified time I do not  have to  postpone issues for later dates because when  the deadlines draws near, I will be overwhelmed with too much work.  Taking a break from the daily routines will help me unwind and relief stress.  Lastly I have to diet.  This will mean that I watch out what I eat because some food has too many calories and are unhealthy. I would want to feel happy about my physical appearances and the whole body.
