Model the Way
Jack Welch runs the General Electric Company with strategies of leadership that were unique. He demonstrate modeling the way practices which include; shared vision inspiration, process challenging, giving others ability to work, and encouraging others by his actions and words. He so well demonstrated the five practices that it becomes not possible to separate the practices with his actions. Another leader who demonstrated model the way is Richard Jabbour who is currently the senior manager of Tata consultancy services He demonstrated team leadership which was strong in SAP business. He focused on streams of efficient values and a net trade cycle that was perfect.
To be able to be a leader demonstrating model the way leadership, one must begin with personal values set. These values are their principles, standards and beliefs by which they live. Leaders with solidified personal values apply them in their environment by using them to navigate projects, industry and people successfully. At work, they model the behavior that is necessary in the organization and they do what they say and this result to credibility and respect. In this type of leadership, the leader is the role model and the employees emulate him/her. To be able to articulate their personal values, they must have a vivid understanding of these values and they must have their personal values aligned with their action. (Kouzes & Posner, 2011).
By a leader having understood the personal values, he will be consistent and focused especially when things contrast with plans. To strengthen the model, a leader can learn through experience, example and experience. Through example, he should he should make observation on others to determine whether their words and actions are consistent, then he should think of few people that he know who he trust and respect and the final thing is to read leaders bibliographies who their values drive them. To learn through education, one should take a time management course, story telling course and finally action planning and goal setting course. (Kouzes & Posner, 2011).
