Celebrex is a NSAID drug used to treat severe pain, menstrual cramps and inflammation. The problems lead to hospitalization of the patient and in other cases death. The risk associated with Celebrex increases when one uses NSAIDs for long. The side effects can occur without any symptoms and can also happen anytime while taking the medication. Patients having the side effects should consult a physician right away. The doctor is supposed to determine whether should take the drug or not. Patients should tell the doctor if they experience chest pain, weakness and shortness of breath (PDRhealth, 2012).
Additionally, Celebrex causes life threatening ulcers and stomach and intestinal bleeding. Patients taking corticosteroids and blood thinning medications are at a higher risk of having the side effects. Patients should tell their physicians if they have ever had ulcers and stomach bleeding. In addition, patients should inform the doctor if they have digestive problems and change in bowel movement. Combivent is used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is administered to patients taking one airway opening drugs and need to control their condition. The side effects associated with Combivent cannot be estimated, but if the patient develops the symptoms he should inform the doctor. This will enable the doctor determine whether it is safe to continue taking Combivent. There are different side effects linked with Combivent. The side effects include headache, coughing, URTI and dyspnea. Another effect is the swelling of the air passages in the lungs. Combivent can lead to severe heart related side effects. Combivent causes severe allergic reactions like itching, skin rash, bronchospasm and anaphylaxis. Other allergic symptoms are swelling of the throat, tongue, lips and nose. Fosamax treats and prevents osteoporosis in women who have reached menopause. It also reduces the risk of having a hip fracture and spinal fracture. In male, the drug is used to increase the bone mass. However, the drug has side effects and patients should seek a doctor’s attention if they have the side effects. The side effects are discomfort on the joints and bones, constipation, diarrhea, gas and upset stomach. Others include muscle pain, unsettled stomach, gastralgia and acid reflux. The side effect can affect the throat causing inflammation. Patients who lie down after taking the drug develop the side effects. Besides, those who do not take the drug with a full glass of water develop the side effects. Also, patients who continue to use the drug after developing throat irritation symptom develop the side effects. Patients should discontinue the drug if they have chest pain, worsening indigestion, pain when swallowing among others. Patients should inform dentists about the drug before a dental procedure. Lastly, patients should talk with the physician regarding using supplemental calcium and vitamin D. This will ensure the patient is getting adequate in their diet (PDRhealth, 2012).
Doctors use Toprol XL to treat angina and chest pain resulting from inadequate oxygen getting to the muscles of the heart. It also used to treat hypertension and heart failure. Toprol XL has side effects such as drowsiness, unahapeniess, wooziness and diarrhea. Another side effect is bradycardia. The symptoms of the disease cannot be foreseen, and parents should inform the doctor in case they develop the side effects. Tropol does not heal hypertension, but control it. Therefore, the patient develops chest pain and myocardial infarcation after stopping the drug. Only the doctor can reduce the dosage. Patients should avoid dangerous activities like driving and operation of machines until they know the side effects. Zoloft is an antidepressant drug used to treat depression and premenstrual dysphoric disorders. The drug has side effects like dehydration, non sexual desires, sleeplessness and runny bowel. There are also serious reactions associated with Zoloft and patients should be aware of them. They include aggression, nervousness, suicide thoughts, agitation, insomnia and dangerous behaviors. Family members and patients should inform the doctor immediately if the patient develops the side effects. Also, they inform the doctor if the patient gets worse. This will ensure patients get appropriate care and improve their outcome (PDRhealth, 2012).
