Personal Perspective

The process in which an organization reviews the operations of a company to ensure that it is working according to the expected national standards in it s business is known as accreditation. The impartial organization which does this is called the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission URAC which started operating in 1996. URAC began accrediting provider organizations and organizations dealing with health plans. There are many types of accredits done by URAC to health care organizations. These types depend on the functions done by the organizations.

The different accreditation programs carried out by URAC are those for health standards, while some are based on a particular program of an organization like those on case credentialing or management.The health care’s largest accrediting body is the URAC which credit all the programs carrying out business in every state. Accreditation process is supported and recognized countrywide. Organizations are required to meet the regulatory standards set by each state instead of each of them reporting to the state.


Accreditation is important because through the set stands, it is position to have a benchmark to measuring the quality of services and products provided by an organization. It is through accreditation standards that the weakness and strength of organizations are revealed. Organizations should work towards improving   the efficiency and effectiveness of their services.


This therefore means that the patient –related or business related organization should continuously work in planning, implementing and evaluating all the processes they are require to. The process of accreditation ensure that there is certification of practices, this is what our organization does by ensuring that the practices done at this health care organization are acceptable to mean that this organization is ethical and committed to quality health care services.
