Population Health Problem
Gender based disparities in treatment is one of population health problem affecting the community in the current times. Women health problems are by different aspects such as biology, personal behavior, and societal interplay among others. Gender based health disparities are in poor countries and in areas with different cultural groups. Evidence shows that unlike men, women face health threatening issues simply because they do not have control of their bodies. Research shows that irrespective of women being caregivers in the society, they lack basic health care or are upon quality healthcare services whenever they are in health problems. One of the issues that lead to gender disparities in treatment is the willingness to consult that is common in women and not in men. Women have no power over decision making and this has affected their level of health service access, (Kovner & Knickman, 2011).
Gender disparities in treatment are commonly due to the access capabilities as well as cost. Evidence shows that women are by different health issues that men are not making it costly to access quality services now and then. This problem affects women health condition to a point of developing other health problems. As a woman grows, health related problems crops into her life something that continues down her life time. At early life say 6 years onwards, a woman is with the problem of FGM. From that, the issue of child marriage develops which is by cervical cancer or breast cancer. The linage continues simply because the issue of menopause still exists plus HIV/AIDS related health problems. The increase in health issues causes gender treatment disparities that affect women at a greater level, (Bettcher & Lee, 2008).
Women are the caregivers in the society thus; government and non government organizations should intervene and address this issue critically. The issue of gender treatment disparity in the community affects women and society at large. With the help of government and non government organizations, women groups should address this problem because without women the society has no strong future hence no survival. Healthcare organizations should address this problem by developing educative programs. The best way to deal with this problem is by government funding educative and awareness programs that health organizations should develop and learn. Women organizations should not be left for they should address some of the common problems and health issues that affect women. It is necessary to address the issue simply because in most cases women lack sound decisions even over their bodies, (Milton 2010).
Addressing this problem requires support from all relevant parties. Women and men should be educated on the importance of quality healthcare irrespective of the disease a patient is suffering. They should be educated on equal health care service provision and leave health related decisions made by the person who is suffering. By these, the problem will be half solved and to the best direction awaiting positive responses from the nature. Women should be empowered and allowed to address their health problems in the best way. Health industries on the other hand, should eliminate gender disparities in treatment and develop strategies for equal provision of health services, (Turnock, 2009).
