Precious Commodities

The item am going to bury is a gold watch with a weight of 500 g and found in the Wal-Mart Stores at a value of $ 459.The reason for my choice of this item is due to various reasons. First, Gold watch is metal and metals do not rot or spoil from moist or dust in the underground. If well stored, while wrapped up with a cotton cloth or any absorbent piece of fabric, this will prevent moisture from consuming it. Another reason for picking up the watch is because Gold, diamond, silver and bronze among other metals classified as precious do not depreciate in value. Each time and moment is worth even more than the previous day’s value.

What I mean is that, since invention of the precious metals like gold, the people who have ever owned them in substantial amounts have always remained in the lists of the wealthiest people in the world. In addition, kingdoms, tribes, countries among others have been seen to fight to own gold mines, or diamond mines just to be associated with the prestige that comes with it. In addition, the gold is rare, with it been owned by me and people in my lineage who are used to middle class lifestyle, it will have an impact and this they will surely view as a great fortune worth transforming their lives from rags to riches.

In the process of burying, I will first wrap up the gift with clean and dry pieces of clothes that are absorbent to take in the moisture that may cause rotting. In addition, smearing a sweet smelling jelly on the on the surface of the gold watch will be useful to retain its luster and shinny appearance which up to then will make it more new and clean. The quality of the gold watch is also important part of the storage process. To enhance this, the gold watch after wrapping up will be placed in a wooden box and later in metal box that is well polished to prevent the gold watch from lusting or corroding as this may transmit to the wrapping cloth causing rotting and this may be transmitted to the gold watch.

The wooden box would be placed inside the metal box and since wood is prone to consumptions by mites and other insects, this will be polished to the maximum both inside and outside to keep off the destruction from the insects. As of the metal box, it is recommended that it is kept in as a wreck. Improper outward appearance is meant to keep off curious people who may want to know what a pretty and well polished metal box may contain. In most cases, the metal box should be kept in a color as close to the soils color as possible to make it even more inconspicuous.

Finally, the metal box should be locked with a rust-free metal padlock or lock and so should the wooden box. Furthermore, the key should be transferred from one generation to the next and all the time the key should be transferred with a myth of the wealth associated with it. To bury the item, the pit should not be so deep and on the place where it is buried should be planted with a tree whose significance should be transferred together with that myth of the keys.

I believe the item will have immense value by the time 200 years are over starting now. The reason is because with fast and tremendous growth in technology, gold this gold watch can be smelted to provide gold for use in electronics, jewelry like necklaces, chains, rings, bracelets and others all of which can be sold at a higher value than the value of the gold watch 200 years before then.

Furthermore, gold has a great contribution to the health care industry as it is used to form incisors and other teeth which have continually increased in acceptance and value by some cultures which by then is expected to be higher in appreciation and acceptance than in current years and times. However, some societies associate gold teeth and other gold accessories as a source of insecurity to the life of the owner as Gold is highly sought after by many people especially the low and middle class who feel they need to get wealthy quick.

Another reason why I believe the gold with help them out of the problem they will have then is if none of them becomes selfish and takes the gold for own use and disappears only to waste it. Additionally, the gold will be useful to them so long as the future generations retain the land as they own and not sell it out to strangers as a way of getting wealth. In 200 years, the development of America as continent and other continents will have taken a different turn and twist with while being more advanced to have invented even more prestigious uses for gold and other precious metals.
