In puritan families, men and women had different roles. For instance, women were entrusted with the responsibility of fending for their children. Additionally, women had the responsibility of attending to different domestic issues. In contrast, men had the responsibility of seeking money in order to cater for the different needs of their families (Bremer, 2006). The differentiation of these roles was vital in terms of enhancing respect in the society. This differentiation was also helpful in that it promoted unity in the family.

The role and responsibilities of the puritan families were reinforced through beliefs, conditions and values. The fear of God was one of the most outstanding beliefs that helped in reinforcing these roles. Puritans had believed in the dominion of human life by God. Consequently, they had to behave in accordance with God’s will for humanity. The strong values about family life also had far reaching implications on the role of Puritan men and women.

Question 3

The different roles of men and women among Puritan families incorporated flexibility. For instance, the husbands would consult with their wives on how to tackle different hardships. Sharing roles also integrated high standards of self belief among the puritan families that they could face any challenge.

Question 4

Virtues served as the most important thing that parents teach their children. The puritan families had tremendous value for virtues. Instilling such virtues among children was an excellent platform towards enhancing moral standards in the society (Bremer, 2006). Such virtues include good morals and ethics. Parents were considered such values as inherent pillars of establishing an excellent framework for morals in the society. Additionally, teaching children about the importance of respect was also an essential consideration for parents among puritan families.
