The RealAge test results indicate that I am 2.8 years older than my real age (RealAge.com, 2012). I am doing well and general medical fitness. However, nutrition and exercise practices are poor, and that is the source of the inflated age as evident by the Real Age results. This implies susceptibility to health concerns such as cardiovascular illness and weight problems. In addition, physical fitness is a concern. I resolve to lower the real age to the level of the chronological age and below. I undertake to enroll in a controlled exercise and nutrition plan directed by a nutrition and exercise therapist.
Nutrition and Exercise Action Plan
Achieving a balance in nutrient intake is essential for quality health. Therefore, intake of carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals, fat and oils, and water must adhere to nutrition guidelines. In line with the U.S. Department of Agriculture food pyramid, the choice and composition of diet includes a diet consisting of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and low fat, animal products. The department recommends a choice of 3 oz of grains, cereals, whole wheat bread, crackers, pasta, and rice each day. I also have a concern with the nutrition content of foods as stated on the package information. This is to ensure that I buy low fat and low calorie foods and avoid products that contain trans fats. In addition, food portions should be small in sizes. In relation to exercise, my plan includes a consideration of frequency, duration, type and intensity of exercise. In relation to exercise, I intend to attend gym at least 3 days a week and perform moderately intense exercises of at least 20 minutes daily.
