Reality
Introduction
Reality is a term that has diverse meaning such as truth, fact, as well as believable among many more. According to dictionary .com, (2012) Philosophers define reality as anything or something that survives autonomously of all other things and which all other things derive or anything that exists independently of ideas concerning its self. When, covering figure 3.14 of the attached chapter 3 documents on sensation and perception I discovered that there were numbers 16 on the left while 8 on the other side as required for a person with normal vision.
This experiment proved that sensation and perception equal reality because what I saw appeared to me as the reality of my vision. In addition, while conducting the experiment on figure 3.15, perspective reality on the negative afterimage complementary colors appeared so vividly confirming that sensation and perception equals reality to some extent. Furthermore, while reading through document 1, about visual processing in the brain I got to understand more on how perception is processed. Finally bringing realistic visual images. However, a Christian understanding of reality a new revelation that reality is not only visually perceived with our five common senses, rather reality is above and beyond perceiving with our senses.
According to St. John 8:32 which says, “And you shall be aware with the truth and the truth shall put you free.” Truth, which is also meant as reality has been discussed in relation to freedom meaning that Christians also believe in reality beyond perceiving with their senses. Although, some Christians believe that partly senses are also indicators of reality, since faith without actions is dead. Therefore, reality is the reality of the substance which can either be presented by sensation and perception or without visual and sensation contributions. What we see is reality as well as what we don’t see, but we believe that it exists this is according the Christianity point of view.
