Ricardo Semler is the chief executive officer of Semco, a firm that manufactures industrial machinery. This article demonstrates how Semler has managed to implement the concept of corporate democracy in his organization. Semler got involved in a car accident and spent months in hospital recovering from the accidents. Despite his absence from the company, the firms carried on with business as usual. This was possible because of the concept of corporate democracy.Organization democracy is a concept that suggests that organizations thrive best by trusting employers. Employee empowerment enabled the organization to endure difficult time including Semler’s accident. The success of the Semler’s model is reflected in the performance of the organization. The company has grown y over 20% for the last 14 years.
