How to select which project to work on
Selecting a project entails examining several opportunities or needs and then making a decision on which project should move forward for implementation purposes. The business must select the profits and the ramifications, merits and demerits of each opportunity required to be examined or evaluated. Furthermore, they can be intangible and tangible, qualitative and quantitative. Quantitative profits could be monetary, like a dwindle in cost or an augment in sales. On the other hand, there could be intangible profits related to an opportunity such as improving employee’s morale or boosting the Company’s public image. As if not enough, the quantitative repercussions related with each and every opportunity, like the cost needed to implement the project or the disruption to work during the time the project is getting implemented. Additionally, the business should formulate a criterion to be used in evaluating factors such as anticipated sales volume, increased market share and alignment with company goals and objectives (Gido, Clements, 2008).
How customers evaluate proposals
It is extremely difficult to provide a description of how each evaluation procedure works; each and every corporation or firm has its own way of doing it. However, it is workable and possible to have a selected form of evaluation depending on the firm’s tastes and preferences. In a given procurement, the customer gets quite a number of proposals in response to his or her request. He goes through all proposal responses in a bid to select the winner for his procurement. What he does is what people do when they make a decision on something. As a matter of fact, the customer works on eliminating whatever proposal that does not compute up to the standards he needs.This procedure elucidates evaluation of a proposal, which affirms that evaluation is, therefore, a process of elimination, other than a method of selection.The customers might consider several factors such as how the proposal aligns with their goals and objects and the benefits or increased market shares the proposal might offer. In addition, he might also consider how the proposal meets the anticipated sales volume. Costs and preferences are other factors the customers might consider since the proposal must be the bridge to use his achieving his goals and objectives.
There is always a criterion the customer decides to use; hence enabling his to choose the factors to consider when selecting the best proposal. Selection of the winning proposal depends on the customer’s elective choice. The lowest-price proposal should not be always selected as the winner since it might be low-priced due to its low quality. Nevertheless, this decision is optional since each customer has his own considerations to make on selecting a proposal. For example, one might select a low-priced proposal since it sounds cheaper; however, the proposal might miss the key factors that interest the customer. On the other hand, the customers might select the low-priced proposal because he cares nothing about the quality as long as the proposal is cheap he selects it as the winner.The first form of the contract is manufacturing aircraft tires and the second contract is fixing tires on the craft. Manufacturing tires should be after the aircraft has been assembled and now awaits the wheels. Fixing the tires should be after the production of the tires and the completion of the aircraft. Manufacturing tires has extensive damage to the atmosphere since there is emission of corrosive gases, which affect the Ozone layer. Fixing tires could risk occurrence of accidents to the workforce engaged in this activity.
