Introduction

Social justice and education are two things that are inescapably linked through different aspects. Social justice helps individuals interact and creates relation in the workplace or the environment they are living. Education and social justice concept cannot be separated, and that is the key reason why learning curriculum integrates the concept of social justice when developing learning curriculum for students. Evidence shows that most of the western learning institutions develop forums of social interaction in order to help individuals understand each other. Such learning institutions prepare individuals on the aspect of social interaction. It is through the use of social justice in education social institutions manage to prepare individuals in a proper way to handle challenges that exist in the community. This essay focus on how the practice of social justice plays a part in education offered to the learners.


Discussion

I believe the practice of social justice in learning institutions play a necessary role simply because it prepare learns on how to develop sound relationship and interaction in their place of environment. Education in the current world has become a vehicle that carries society moral concepts. The practice of social justice in education helps prepare learners on how to behave morally. It is through social justice practice individuals learn what the society expects from them and how they are at any given point respond to situations. The practice of social justice in education prepare individuals have a way of social reasoning that create a forum of discussion. Evidence shows that social justice in education prepares learners have a reasoning capacity compared to those who are not subjected to social justice. Learning institutions that want learners develop social interaction skills use the concept of social justice (Sandel, 2009).


Connell suggested that social justice in education is a physical asset just like the way housing is a physical asset in the material concept. We are moving in a cultural shift where individuals should learn the concept of social interaction and how to relate to different cultural group. Social justice practice helps and prepares individuals respond to such challenges in the right direction. Social justice in education helps individuals learn different aspects of social interaction thus it is a vital concept in the day to day learning concept of social interaction in the society. Initially, construction of social justice in education was slightly difficult because determining the appropriate concept to be applied was a problem. Although the use of social justice brought some technicalities, evidence shows that the little concept applied in education have helped thousands of learners. Social justice develops different question in the social setting that allows equal distribution of opportunities, (Kozol’s, 1990).


From my own analysis on the use of social justice in education, I have discovered that it is something that must be applied in learning in order to prepare individuals. Social environment is made of different challenges that prevent fair distribution of different concepts. I second Connell (1993) on the aspect of social justice application as a mode of fair distribution. Social justice in education has allowed educate some of social dominant groups that drag the process of development in the society. Evidence shows that most dominant groups in the society have failed simply because they lack the knowledge of social justice. I believe the concept of social justice in the current education helps learners understand how they should respond to different challenges, (Sandel, 2009).Sandel said, “The concept of social justice has existed since 1840s but is taken to mean different things to different people,” (Sandel, pg. 65). Some people think social justice means equal income or wealth redistribution in the society. The term social justice may have a different meaning, but the key concept when applied to education is help the learner understand such definitions in order to stay and live in the society as expected. According to Sandel, “the concept of social justice practice in education have enabled different people understand how to interact with people from different corners of the world,” (Sandel, pg. 65).


I believe the use of social justice in education helps learners get knowledge to respond to contemporary situations that affect the society. It is necessary to get the idea of social justice because it is applicable in the current economic world of global development, (Kozol’s, 1990).Although the past generation may have experienced problems with the idea of social interaction, we should prepare the current and coming generation on how to understand social differences that exist in the society. Application of social justice in education will play a vital role because it will lay the foundation of how to respond and argue about the issue of social justice in the society setting. Evidence shows that development of social justice has created a framework that helps fight the issue of cultural differences. It enables develop a cultural shift appropriate for the upcoming generation. It is necessary to apply the concept of social justice in education simply because it enables learners understand what society expects from them, (Sandel, 2009).
