The Monroe Park
Monroe Park is one of the oldest parks in the United States. It is the oldest park in the state of Virginia. I chose to visit the place for many reasons. First of all, is because the park is a historical site; built in 1851, the park contains sceneries and objects of olden times. Because of my interest in the history of the United States, therefore, it would be beneficial to visit the park. The park’s name derives from the fifth president of the United States, James Monroe; therefore, it is a paramount symbol of the United States history. The second reason for my choice of the park is because it is the home of Baseball in the state of Virginia. Being a baseball fan, I have an interest in seeing how baseball fields were like in the eighteenth century. I also had an interest in viewing the William Cater’s bronze monument in the park; He is a paramount figure in the history of US. Lastly and most significant reason for my visit to the park is the plants and animals.
The park offers a niche to multiple animals’ species in the state; the most abundant species in the park are squirrels, pigeons and wild birds. Squirrels are not animals present everywhere in the United States, visiting the park would enable me see the wealth of the United States in terms of wildlife. It contains spectacular species of wild birds, visiting the park would, therefore, be an adventurous encounter. The park also contains numerous species of plants; it has some of the oldest trees. There are trees such as Oaks and Magnolia which have been in the park for decades. It has an incredible plantation of deciduous. In the park, I saw all these phenomenal sites, the amazing plantations, the spectacular animals and the historical symbols such as the William’s monument and the old Baseball pit. A visit to the park is both learning and relaxing opportunity. One sees the beauty of the Virginia State and appreciates its history.
