Theories And Conceptual Frameworks
Introduction
It has been proven that using the right conceptual models make it easier for researchers to design as well as test interventions that can be regarded theory based as well as well as the advancement of science to take nursing to the next level. In this text, I look at the inherent benefits of using a theory or conceptual model to guide a research study. I also come up with a description of a research study that can test the theory.
An example of a theory or conceptual framework
A good example of a conceptual framework was developed by King in 1971. In summary, the basis of this framework is that nursing chief focus is the human being. According to king, nursing involves communities and those who dwell in those communities and health promotion in this setting is the goal of nursing (Groove 2005).
Benefits of using a conceptual frame model to guide research
According to Polit et al. (2008), a conceptual model can enable a researcher to develop a structure for guiding their studies. He goes on to explain that a conceptual model can assist the researcher to development of hypotheses as well as its testing. With that in place, findings in research can be placed in a scientific context.Other researchers like Groove (2005) have also cited the model to be of extreme importance in conservation principles where it is utilized in interpreting and analyzing data.
A research study that can test the theory
An example of a research study that can test this theory includes an exercise intervention investigation so as to lessen fatigue in patients with cancer. Here, we can utilize the conceptual model to help manage the exercise initiative, come up with the patients salient outcomes as well as identify the right instruments that can be used in the study variables measurement. In short, by using this model, a researcher can utilize a conceptual model to come up with a structure for organizing his or her study. In this instance a researcher can also use a conceptual model for building as well as hypothesis testing (Haber et al. 2006)
Conclusion
Theories and conceptual frameworks are very important in guiding research. Conceptual models apart from providing research ideas also play a huge role in the organization of a research investigation and bring down the amount as well as types of variables to a manageable number. These conceptual frameworks have also been cited to be especially beneficial in the evaluation as well as utilization of a number of models in the nursing practice
