Poor infrastructure investment has been the main cause of traffic jams and congestion in the roads. Traffic congestion issue slows the growth of economy simply because a lot of activities drag their progress. The idea behind this is to develop infrastructure and get ways of reducing traffic jams.

Some of the main factors that cause traffic jams and congestion in the society include poor investment in infrastructure, rise in the current population, use of unreliable parking sites that make it difficult to move the traffic, and urban sprawls among others, (James, 2009).

Evidence suggests that a lot of investment on the current infrastructure is required in order to expand roads to accommodate the traffic. Generation of revenues from government authorities will help boost required financial investment. Congestion toll charges and gas taxes will contribute to the aimed revenue collection idea, (Lewis, 2010).

Yes. The general public should be educated and encouraged on the use of public transport in order to reduce the level of traffic congestion during rush hours.

Collection of revenue is possible but will initially have some challenges simply because the general public will require explanation on how they will benefit from the program.

Evidence shows that the general public does not accept the issue of tax in the first place and they feel discomfort when required to comply with the situation. The federal and state government should enforce the law that will require the general public to adhere to the payment of developed taxes.

Revenues collected will be used to fund infrastructure expansion program. Instead of paying toll charges, most people will go for public transport something that will help reduce traffic jam and congestion. It is through toll charges the government will be able to determine which roads are of value and requires extra investment financial percentage, (Kerner, 2009).

Individuals against the idea of congestion tax argue that revenue for transport is paid via tax thus there is no need to impose such law. Public education should be conducted in order to educate the general public on the issue of paid the cost that it may have catered for other costs and not what they tend to think, (Lewis, 2010).

Educating the public is an ideal approach that would be used to save the future of the infrastructure. When the public is made aware on the economic impact developed by the traffic jam they might decide to make wise decisions on their transport option hence reduce traffic jam as much as they can, (James, 2009).
9. Is there a way the federal government may encourage congestion pricing?
Through initiatives by providing incentives to infrastructure development, the federal government may help the general public pay congestion charges without complains.
10. Will the government benefit from congestion pricing in any way?
Federal government will get revenues from congestion pricing and will manage to realize the decrease of traffic jam during peak hours.
