Transportation Fundamentals: Quality

Logistics is concerned with supplies in any supply chain. This is because, over years, supply chains have extended to cover wider geographical areas with demand concentrated at entry ports hence coercing the port operations and home long-haul transportation capacities. As a result, alignment with other suppliers in the supply chain includes Closer collaboration with haulers. Proper transportation technology therefore plays an important role in the improvement of business processes and assists in production of better financial results. One way of achieving better financial results is through planning of inbound and outbound deliveries which improves shipment center dock’s efficiency.

High quality of transportation efficiency endorses the competitiveness of the supply chain (Coyle, et al, 2008). Such a cost effective transportation enables a company to acquire access to higher-quality, lower-priced materials which allows the realization of production’s economies of scale. On the other hand, low-priced transportation is vital in the improving demand realization chances. The quality of a product is mostly dictated by the price and keeping transportation costs realistically low leads to aggressive total cost of a product in numerous markets (Coyle, et al, 2008).

In addition, high-quality transportation system whose center of attention is the customer delivers the right product to the right client in the right amount, in the right state, at the right time and right price which are the seven R’s of logistics. According to Coyle et al (2008), supply chain flexibility is endorsed by working with haulers with different shipment times and service favorites of a wide range, a fact that ensures satisfactory supply chain demands for accelerated, subsequent-day services and inexpensive regular delivery requirements.
