Uses of Corn for Fuel

The price of fuel has been increasing and it is also expected that will take the same path. Individuals fear that their heating bills will continue to rise day after day. Use biomass sources of heating have turned to be an alternative. Corn is a popular source of heating which is being used by people in different ways.

Corn also known as maize has different ways in which is being used. Corn can either be consumed, fed to animals and currently it has taken a new shape whereby it is being converted into biomass state which is then used for heating purposes. “United states has a bad oil addiction,” President Bush said those words when he was providing a speech aimed at uniting the Americans. According to Bush and other prominent people in the world are warning individuals due to the risk associated with environmental degradation as a result of fossil fuels, change in sources of heating is required so as to rescue the ecosystem, (Biomass, 2011).

Since change in types of heating or fuels that are used is required, among the popular sources of alternative that are available only suggests that biomass fuel which is derived from corn tends to be economic and upcoming well. Surplus corns have been used to provide heating services and results shows that heat supplied by corns is so strong and reliable simply because of the cost associated with development of the corn product. When corn is used with some improvised heating equipments, it does offer the best tradition heating process. Research on the usefulness of biomass energy reviled that over 95% of the biomass sources of heating materials, (Moll, 2010).

Corn energy has been used and its effectiveness and cost shows that it is the best. Dry shells are burnt which forms the part of heating system. Dry shell corns are burnt so as to produce heat and since production of corn is not as such costly heat produced from this type of heating material become cheaper. The type of corn that is required to be used in heat production need not to be of high quality such as the one used for human consumption. The only requirement of the corn to be used is that it should be dry. This means that ecosystem is at a large portion saved from fossils fuel which produces some of harmful gases, (Biomass, 2011).

Among the alternative sources of heating that are available, biomass from corn is the only reliable simply because of its availability and ease when using it. The method is very simple simply because the only important thing that is required is just a stove which should contain some heating components. People who have used the corn for heating prefer it simply because the storage of corns is much easier compared to storage of the common wood. Heating provided by corn has turned to be cheap whereby individuals during the snow period do prefer using it. The system is much economic compared to other sources and this means that within no years the number of individuals who will be using same sources of heating will have increased with a large number, (Moll, 2010).

Research and evidence provided by those who have used the same sources of heating suggest that, use of corn for heating may even save more than a half compared to other sources of heating such as oil.
