Website Content

Think of a hypothetical situation in which a friend asks you to recommend a web site to them so that they can find more information on their condition or symptoms.  I want you to think of a relatively obscure condition – avoid the obvious conditions like cancer that will bring you to the American Cancer Society web site. Google the condition/symptom and find a website that you are unfamiliar with and then complete the evaluation tool that is attached in this week’s learning module file.

TOOL

Web Address:

Purpose
What do you believe is the purpose of the Web site? To give detailed information about the disease. These include its causes, effects i.e. whether it’s a contagious disease or not and its adverse effects like in this case it is a chronic disease and its methods of treatment.

What clues do you have that helped you make your conclusion?

The friend had red thick patches on the skin and they appeared scaly. In addition, some of the patches were turning pinkish and pulling out the scales left blood like spots that were tiny.

It is educative, informative and well detailed to help one understand clearly their symptoms. Also the explanations are not made in medical terms therefore anyone who accesses the site is able to understand its contents.
