Introduction
Wisdom can be defined as the desire and ability to make choices that can be accepted by majority of people after a long-term examination. It may also entail distinguishing between good and evil and choosing what is good. From a philosophical point of view, wisdom entails making the best use of available knowledge. The definitional ambiguities of wisdom management exceed the ambiguities of knowledge management. Hence, wisdom management remains to be an unproductive endeavor.

Wisdom management is an evolution of knowledge management, which focuses on the ability and knowledge of privileged individuals. Hence, the notion of wisdom management is primarily based on an outdated aspect of individualism. Wisdom has more to do with leadership than management due to the fact that it is more about conversation and personal experience. It is worth noting that wisdom refers to the highest form of knowledge.
Development of effective learning is what has led to extension of knowledge management. This in turn coincides with the widespread of computer use and creation of substantially new challenges from information explosion. However, the greatest learning point in human history was the influence of the millennium. This influence led to focusing of intellectual efforts on the concept of reflecting on theory and learning from our history. Reflective learning of wisdom mainly focuses on the past, the present and the future.
Management systems have progressed cumulatively from data processing, through information technology and to the present knowledge management. The next step that is yet to be accomplished is wisdom management. It is possible for corporations to be informed and knowledgeable. However, in the global era, corporations must be increasingly wise. The primary purpose of wisdom project is to achieve wisdom of enterprise and use. Hence, wisdom needs to become like information and knowledge. This implies that it has to be a manageable resource and an integral part of effectiveness, efficiency, explicability and ethics.
Information technology can help in wisdom management. It is evident that information may be used to define a business or organizations past experience and also its future potential. Hence, the use of technology to manage information may be a form of strategy to achieving wisdom in future. It is also important to note that information alone is not enough. There is need to have knowledge and wisdom in order to build and develop an organization. Wisdom arises after the transformation of knowledge into principles or insight.
Knowledge management and wisdom management have one thing in common and that is, they all entail action. Information technology on the other hand is about symbolic descriptions of the past, present or the future. Hence, the process of moving from information through knowledge and eventually wisdom is more like moving form words to action. Wisdom management therefore requires the application of a global corporate strategy. The strategy does not entail the use of statements but it requires taking the right actions.
Conclusion
It is worth noting that information consists of data though data may not be necessarily information. The same case applies to wisdom which is defined as knowledge. Knowledge is not necessarily wisdom since wisdom is a subset of knowledge. Information technology has made it possible to convert data which is in turn converted to information, followed by knowledge and eventually wisdom.
