Important Moment Of My Life: College Denial
The most important part of life and one that shaped my life and career direction to become a teacher of English today was when I received college denials from two of the most prestigious colleges in the country. Having completed my high school and performed well at least to my understanding, I was confident that I would be admitted to any college of my choice.
It was my dream to become a teacher of the English language and I was determined to make it to the best college. After posting my admission letter, I was shocked to receive a regret letter telling me that they cannot accept me to the college. After following up the matter with the college I was informed that my writing skills were not up to the college standards and it was evident in the admission letter I had sent them and also in the ACT test that I had done.
Instead of taking in the information negatively and giving up on my dreams of becoming a teacher, I signed up for remedial classes. The college denial was more of a morale boost to me than a declaration of doom. I was determined to make it. I had a vision and whether I get accepted to the college of my dreams or not I had to become a teacher. I realized that to be admitted to the college of my dreams I needed to improve on my average grade in not only English but also mathematics, and the sciences.
After three months I sent another admission letter to another college, sat for their entrance exam and I got admitted. I studied my dream course education and that is why I am here today.Rejection by one or two colleges should not mean you are good enough, you should try again and again and give other colleges a chance and just like me you might find out the colleges that you had not thought of applying to turn out to be the best for the course you wanted to take. Also work hard in all your high school subjects so as to have a good average grade.
