Oral health as one of the critical health problems has been recognized for quite some time, although thousands of U.S citizen lack access to affordable dental medical care services. Dental health problems can be considered to be early signs of other dangerous illnesses which could develop from lack of proper care on oral health. It is common knowledge that when some one suffers from teeth ache the whole body has to be in the state of unrest, and in addition tooth decay might lead to more serious problems such as gums infections, disfiguring, low self-esteem as well as tooth loss.

Furthermore, there are limited employment opportunities in jobs such as security and military employments, since they have insurance covers catering for the employees who lose their teeth in the course of duty. While, many dentists’ advice people to attend regular oral care to prevent any health complications related to dental health. However the biggest challenge facing many people is the financial challenges specifically affecting a good number of low-income earners.

Most of the high quality oral health services, such as private sectors and some government dental health care provide services charged highly that a low-income earner can not afford. Furthermore, according to Kaiser low-income coverage and access survey (2008) dental coverage is often excluded in private health insurance strategies, while individuals who include dental health care benefit often require high levels of cost-sharing which discourages many low income earners who can not afford this services. Furthermore the same case applies to Medicaid where oral health-care coverage is partial or nonexistent in several states. Unfortunately health care safety net does not focus most of its resources on dental coverage, making it difficult for those without adequate oral coverage to miss out access opportunity required for dental care.

This proposal examines problems of lack of many affordable dental services for low income population in Delaware, as well as finding how many affordable dental services can be acquired for low income citizens. The study shall also check on considerations of existing measures that can be adopted to improve dental services.

Evaluation and considerations:

The study shall evaluate considerable cheap services such as home care dental services to low income earners, subsidized oral care services from the government as well as voluntary dental services to low income population. All this considerations shall be done through finding the number of low income earners of age “between” 19-65 within Delaware community and the number of oral health care facilities currently available to them within their local.

Alternatives:

The alternatives or options to be considered are introduction of homecare dentals services, private and government subsidizing its oral services, as well as public sensitization on affordable preventive measures to control dental complications. These measures will help on improving regular prevention services that will help to curb lack of much affordable dental service for low income citizens in Delaware.

Resources:

Resources to be exploited are private and public dental health care services within Delaware community, Available homecare health services as well as dentist, program administrator for dental program. Technical utilities shall also be considered to make the process as effective as possible. Study materials from libraries shall also be considered for literature documentation purposes.
