Oral Language Development

Language development starts when the child is born. Oral language is an important aspect to children simply because it gives a foundation on other learning aspects. Language is an important factor in a child’s development simply because it prepares the child in learning what other things means. Research shows that oral language has a great influence on how individuals think and behave thus when developing a child, it is vital to ensure that the right vocabulary has been given.

According to Scarborough, parents should learn their kids in order to know whether they have literacy problems. Kids who experience difficulties in their oral language show that might develop problems in their future literacy activities. A good milestone on oral vocabulary language skills should be developed in order to prepare kids on their future literacy, (Pullen, et al., 2003).

Research shows that parents should prepare their kids in a manner they perceive literacy work in the right aspect. Early years of a kid should provide a critical understanding of oral language so as to help the child in actual literacy work. A good combination of oral language practice and that of emergent literature such as print awareness should be used in a critical aspect in order to assist a kid on literature development. This gives children basic rules of the language they are subjected to and also offers them opportunity to learn what they expect from other languages.

Research shows that constant correction of mistakes done by a child is not healthy in oral language development. Learning is a process that provides experience in a given field. The work of a care giver should not be correcting mistakes rather it should be that developing rules on the language, (Pullen, et al., 2003).
