The issue of diversity is hot on colleges.  College diversity covers aspects like ethnicity, gender, and race, sexual orientation, age, socioeconomic status and gender among others. In colleges, diversity plays crucial roles in social development and self awareness enhancements. Additionally, college diversity guarantees expansion of worldliness, students’ preparation for work in a global society, knowledge base increase and preparation of students for future success. However, there are some people in colleges who misuse the issue of diversity to cover up for their racist actions. For instance, Zoobee (2012), some people used their position and words to prove to the world their understanding and acceptance of non racist actions only to cover up the extent of their racism. Amongst colleges, students need to be prepared for work in a global society enriches multiple perspectives.  Today, the professional world is characterized by employees, employers, customers, coworkers, and clients from diverse backgrounds.  In addition, multiple perspectives are acquired through the power of a general education by helping to liberate students from the tunnel vision (Jaschik, 2012).


In Baltimore, higher education systems are desegregated. The black colleges argue that there are not comparable and competitive compared to the white institutions (Jaschik, 2012). Black institutions are tools to propagate segregation. This is evident in the funding of the institutions in which the white colleges receive far less than the white institutions.  College diversity issues spread to the issuance of college scholarships. For students in the south, obtaining a scholarship for a black male from low-income family with low ACT scores and average grade point do not retain their scholarship compared to peers from other ethnicities (Grasgreen, 2012).  The unfairness of this segregation is that the black families face obstacles from educational, family and financial factors. This is against the fact that scholarships are meant for the needy students but do not accomplish their objectives.
